West Bladen High School LogoSenior Nicole Wyatt fired a 3-hitter and struck out 11 batters as West Bladen’s Lady Knights rolled to a 10-0 non-conference victory at Purnell Swett Tuesday night.

Wyatt walked none and faced only 20 batters in 6 innings as her teammates played errorless ball behind her.

The Lady Knights snapped a scoreless duel between Wyatt and Swett’s Carissa Holden in the third inning. Sophomore Logan Autry drew a walk and advanced on senior Amber Bills’ sacrifice bunt. Senior Morgan Sweeney knocked in Autry with a double.

Wyatt followed with a single, and Pait belted a single that plated Sweeney and put West up 2-0.

The Lady Knights broke the game open with a 5-run fifth inning. Bills led off with a single to right-centerfield and raced to third base as Sweeney smashed a double to right-centerfield.

Wyatt cracked a single to right-field that scored Bills and Sweeney. Pait rapped a single, and sophomore Alanna Ludlum’s sacrifice fly made it 5-0. Sophomore Kassidy Anderson was hit by a pitch and sophomore Kathryn Schultz beat out a bunt single. Pait and Anderson both came around to score for a 7-0 lead.

Sweeney started the Lady Knight sixth inning with a single, and Wyatt hammered a double. Pait drove in both runners with a single, and after a fielder’s choice, Anderson smacked a single to drive in Pait with the tenth run.

Pait batted a perfect 4-4 with 3 runs batted in to lead the Lady Knight hitters. Sweeney finished 3-4 at the plate with 2 doubles and an rbi.

Wyatt was also 3-4 with a double and 2 rbi’s. Schultz batted 2-2, and Anderson turned in a 2-3 game with an rbi. Ludlum drove in 2 runs with a single and a sacrifice fly, and Bills batted 1-3.

Desaree Dunham, Courtney Oxendine and Emma McMillian collected one hit each for Swett.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights are 2-0 on the season and will open Four County Conference play Friday night at home against Midway.
