BLADENBORO- Senior Rylee Chadwick pitched a 2-hit shutout and struck out 12 batters Wednesday night, and West Bladen’s Lady Knights lit up the scoreboard with 12 runs and 16 hits in a 12-0 5-inning Southeastern Athletic Conference victory over Fairmont.

“We haven’t been hitting,” said West Bladen Coach Pam Stephens. “It was good to see us pound the ball like that. This was a big win for us going into the Easter break. I am proud of my girls.”

West Bladen took charge early as Chadwick led off with a single and raced home when senior Kylie Durden blasted a triple into the right field corner. Junior Gracie Faircloth laced a single to center that plated Durden, and senior Kaitlynn Brisson ripped a single to left that scored Faircloth. Junior Megan Pait knocked in Brisson with a single to left for a 4-0 lead.

Chadwick reached on an error, and Durden beat out an infield hit in the 2nd inning. Faircloth walked, and Allen’s grounder forced Chadwick at the plate. Brisson swatted an infield hit off the pitcher’s glove that scored Durden. Faircloth dashed home on a passed ball, and an error on the play scored Allen. Freshman Brenna Hester smacked a single to center that scored Brisson and stretched the lead to 8-0.

Senior Madison Taylor lined a single to center to start the 3rd inning. Senior Mackenzie Singletary split the gap in right-center field with a double that scored Taylor. Durden pulled a single to right that scored freshman Jahyrah Priest, the courtesy runner for Singletary, and padded the lead to 10-0.

Four straight 2-out hits produced 2 more West runs in the 4th inning. Taylor and Singletary swatted singles to right field, and Chadwick raked a single to left that scored Taylor. Durden yanked a single to right that scored Priest who was running for Singletary with the final run.

Durden batted a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate with a triple, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Singletary finished 2-for-3 at the plate with the RBI double. Taylor was also 2-for-3 and scored twice. Brisson batted 2-for-3 with 2 RBIs. Faircloth finished 2-for-3 with an RBI and 2 runs scored.

Chadwick batted 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Pait and Hester both belted RBI singles. Priest scored 2 runs, and Allen scored a run.

Senior pitcher Lindsey Floyd and senior Haleigh Jackson had 1 hit each for Fairmont.

The Lady Knights have now won 9 of their last 10 games and will take a week off for the Easter Break. West Bladen, now 6-0 in league play and 10-5 overall, will return to action on Monday, April 17th at West Brunswick.
