RED SPRINGS – Senior Kylie Durden scattered 7 hits, and West Bladen rolled to a 14-1 Southeastern Athletic Conference Conference softball victory over Red Springs Thursday night. Durden allowed a 1st inning run, struck out 2 and walked one to pick up the victory.

Senior Rylee Chadwick ripped a lead-off single to center field, stole 2nd base and scored the Lady Knights’ 1st run on junior Gracie Faircloth’s fielder’s choice.

Sophomore Marlene Crabtree reached base on an error in the 2nd inning, advanced on freshman Brenna Hester’s bunt single and scored on a passed ball. Senior Madison Taylor walked, and senior Mackenzie Singletary knocked in Hester with a single to center. Chadwick reached base on an error that plated Taylor, and Durden brought home Jahyrah Priest, the courtesy runner for Singletary, with a sacrifice fly to put West up 5-1.

Crabtree reached base on a fielder’s choice in the 3rd inning. Hester was hit by a pitch, Taylor walked, and Singletary’s infield hit scored Crabtree to pad the lead to 6-1.

Faircloth reached on an error then stole a base in the 4th inning. Senior Kaitlynn Brisson reached base on a passed 3rd strike that scored Faircloth. Brisson stole 2 bases then scored as Crabtree reached base on an error to grow the lead to 8-1.

The Lady Knights put the game away with a 6-run 5th inning. Singletary reached on an error, and Chadwick legged out a bunt single. Durden clobbered a triple to center field that scored Priest, the runner for Singletary, and Chadwick.

Faircloth reached on an error that plated Durden. Freshman Kali Allen beat out a bunt single, before Brisson dotted the right field line with a single that scored Faircloth. Junior Megan Pait hammered a double to center field that drove in Allen and Brisson.

Singletary batted 2-for-3 with an RBI to lead the West hitters. Chadwick finished 2-for-4 at the plate with 2 runs scored. Durden blasted the triple, scored a run and had 3 RBIs. Pait slammed the 2-run double. Hester, Brisson and Allen collected 1 hit each. Faircloth, Brisson, Crabtree and Priest scored 2 runs each. Allen, Hester and Taylor scored 1 run each. Faircloth had 2 RBIs, and Brisson had an RBI.

Sydney Bell doubled home C. Lindsay with the Lady Red Devil run in the 1st inning. Bell finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Teammate E. Brooks batted 2-for-2.

The win was the 7th in a row for Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights, who have now won 12 of their last 13 games, to remain unbeaten in SAC-7 play at 8-0 and raise their overall record to 13-5. The Lady Knights will travel to St. Pauls Tuesday night.
