Junior Sophia Singletary pitched a 4-inning no-hitter, and West Bladen’s offense pounded out 19 hits as the Lady Knights defeated East Bladen 15-0 Friday night in Four County Conference softball action at West.

Singletary raised her record to 6-7, struck out 5 and allowed only a walk to Lady Eagle Lauren Merritt leading off the third inning.

“Sophia did a good job of getting ahead of the hitters, and we played pretty good defense today,” said West Bladen Coach Joey Autry.

Junior Kassidy Anderson lined a single over short to start the Lady Knight first inning. Anderson was retired on junior Logan Autry’s fielder’s choice, but freshman Carley Dawson swatted a single down the leftfield line.

Junior Alanna Ludlum blasted a triple that one-hopped the fence in right-centerfield and scored Autry and Dawson. Junior Laikyn Pait walloped a double to deep centerfield that plated Ludlum. Singletary dotted the leftfield line with a double that scored Pait.

Junior Kathryn Schultz ripped a single through the left side that brought home Singletary, and freshman Conner Brisson hammered a triple to right-centerfield that drove in Schultz for a 6-0 Lady Knight lead.

Autry beat out an infield hit to shortstop to begin the West second inning. Dawson sliced a single to rightfield, and Ludlum drilled a single off the pitcher to load the bases.

Pait’s sacrifice fly scored Autry, and Singletary’s infield hit plated Dawson. Schultz smoked a single past third to drive in Patience Parker, the courtesy runner for Singletary, and stretch the West lead to 9-0.

Ludlum rapped a single through the middle to start the West fourth inning. Pait smacked a single to right-centerfield, and Singletary knocked in Ludlum with a single to center.

Junior Jenna Dove poked a single to rightfield that scored Pait, and Brisson reached on an error that scored courtesy runner Parker. Anderson beat out an infield hit that plated Dove, and Autry legged out an infield hit to load the bases.

Dawson reached base on an error that scored Brisson, and Ludlum ended the game on the mercy rule with a single to centerfield that brought home Anderson.

Ludlum batted 4-4 with a triple, 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored to lead the West hitters. Singletary finished 3-3 at the plate with a double, 3 rbi’s and a run scored. Pait turned in a perfect 2-2 game with a double, 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored.

Schultz batted 2-3 with 2 rbi’s and a run scored. Dawson finished 2-4 with an rbi and 2 runs scored. Autry was also 2-4 with 2 runs scored, and Anderson batted 2-4 with an rbi and a run scored.

Brisson walloped the rbi triple and scored a run, and Dove had an rbi single and a run scored.

“We have really been hitting the ball lately,” said Coach Autry. “The girls are dialed in at the plate. They are playing really good and are having fun doing it.”

The Lady Knights raised their record to 6-2 in league play and 9-7 overall. East Bladen is now 2-5 in the league and 3-6 overall.
