West Bladen High School LogoROWLAND – West Bladen exploded for 7 first-inning runs en route to a 17-7 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over South Robeson.

Senior Brittney Landreth and sophmore Kyla Reed drew walks to start the game. Catcher Alara Cashwell ripped a single to center field to load the bases.

Junior Carley Dawson smacked a 2-run single to centerfield, and Cashwell’s courtesy runner, Kaitlyn Willoughby, darted home on a wild pitch. Collins blasted a triple to rightfield that scored Carley Dawson.

Collins dashed home on a wild pitch, senior Abby Dawson was hit by a pitch, and freshman Alyssa Suggs walked. Senior Alise Pait’s sacrifice bunt scored Abby Dawson, and Suggs scampered home on a wild pitch for a 7-0 lead.

Kerosone Riveria slammed a double, and Tracie Jacobs singled to begin the Lady Mustang first. Two errors and a walk helped produce 3 runs as South Robeson whittled the lead to 7-3.

Kerosone Riveria smashed a run-scoring triple in the South second inning that cut the lead to 7-4.

Collins blasted a solo home run over the left-centerfield fence to lead off the West fourth inning. Abby Dawson beat out an infield hit, and Suggs walked. Landreth reached on an error as Abby Dawson and Suggs scored. Reed knocked in Landreth with a single that padded the lead to 11-4.

Two singles, an error and Makoa Riveria’s 2-run double sliced the West Bladen lead to 11-7.

The Lady Knights secured the victory with 6 more runs in the sixth inning. Landreth walked, Reed reached base on an error, and Carley Dawson’s infield single scored Landreth. Collins legged out a bunt single that plated Reed.

Abby Dawson beat out a bunt single that scored Carley Dawson. Collins and Abby Dawson both dashed home on passed balls. Landreth belted a single that scored Suggs for a 17-7 lead.

Collins slugged the home run and the triple, drove in 3 runs, scored 3 runs and batted 3-4. Cashwell finished 2-3 at the plate with a double and 2 runs scored. Carley Dawson batted 2-3 with 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.

Landreth finished 2-4 at the plate with an rbi and 3 runs scored. Abby Dawson batted 2-4 with an rbi and 3 runs scored. Reed contributed an rbi hit and 2 runs scored. Suggs had a bunt single and scored 3 runs. Jordan Benson collected one hit, and Pait had an rbi.

Pharr started in the circle and pitched one inning, allowing 3 runs – one earned – on 2 hits. Collins pitched the next 5 innings to pick up the win. The senior righthander allowed 4 runs – one earned – on 4 hits and a walk while striking out eight.

Kerosone Riveria walloped the double and the triple to lead the South Robeson hitters, and Makoa Riveria swatted a double.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 3-1 in Three Rivers play and 3-2 overall. West Bladen will host Whiteville Tuesday night.
