BLADENBORO- Seniors Rylee Chadwick and Madison Taylor combined to pitch a 1-hitter, and West Bladen exploded for 10 1st inning runs en route to a 19-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference softball victory over Red Springs Tuesday night.

Chadwick struck out 3 batters and hit a batter in her 2 hitless innings in the circle. Taylor pitched 3 innings of relief and allowed a hit, a walk and a hit batter while striking out 2.

Senior Kylie Durden whistled a single to center field, and junior Gracie Faircloth beat out a swinging bunt to begin the 1st inning. Freshman Kali Allen yanked a single to left that scored Durden and Faircloth, and senior Kaitlynn Brisson singled. Sophomore Marlene Crabtree walked, and freshman Brenna Hester hammered a double to left that scored Allen and Brisson.

Senior Mackenzie Singletary legged out an infield hit that scored Crabtree. Chadwick drove in Hester with a single, and Durden smacked another single to center that plated Jahyrah Priest, the courtesy runner for Singletary, and Chadwick. Faircloth’s fly ball was misplayed and scored Durden, and Allen laced a single to left-center that scored Faircloth for a 10-0 lead.

Singletary reached on an error to start the Lady Knight 3rd inning, and Chadwick drilled a double to left. Durden pounded a double to left-center that scored Singletary and Chadwick. Faircloth walloped a double to center that scored Durden.

Allen beat out an infield hit, and Priest was hit by a pitch. Faircloth scooted home on freshman Natalee Sykes’ infield fly. Taylor smashed a double to right-center field that scored Allen and Priest and stretched the lead to 16-0.

Chadwick walked to begin the West 4th inning, and sophomore Marlie Walters lined a single to right-center field. Sophomore Holland Davis’ single drove in Chadwick, and sophomore Aiyana Jones reached on an error that scored Walters. Priest’s fielder’s choice plated Davis and padded the lead to 19-0.

Allen was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs to lead the Lady Knights. Durden batted 3-for-4 with a double, 3 runs scored and 4 RBIs. Faircloth finished 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, 3 runs scored and 2 RBIs. Chadwick was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and 3 runs scored.

Hester doubled, and Walters, Davis, Brisson, Taylor and Singletary collected 1 hit each. Hester and Taylor drove in 2 runs each, and Davis, Jones, Singletary and Priest had 1 RBI each. Priest scored 2 runs, and Singletary, Walters, Brisson, Crabtree and Hester scored 1 run each.

Pitcher T. Pate doubled in the 4th inning for the only Red Springs hit.

It was the 6th straight win for Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights who improved to 7-0 in SAC-7 play and 12-5 overall. West Bladen has won 11 of their last 12 games.
