CERRO GORDO – West Bladen pounded out 18 hits and rolled to a 22-2 Three Rivers Conference softball victory over West Columbus Friday night.

The Lady Knights jumped in front with 4 runs in the first inning. Junior Tatiana Hunt led off the game with a single to centerfield, stole 2 bases and darted home on a passed ball. Juniors Kyla Reed and Alara Cashwell and senior Conner Brisson drew walks.

Reed scooted home on an error, and freshman Hannah Pait’s fielder’s choice plated Cashwell. Brisson scored as sophmore Shelby Pharr reached base on an error.

The Lady Knights pushed across 6 more runs in the second to up the count to 10-0. Junior Kasee Singletary walked, stole 2 bases and dashed home when Hunt belted a single. Reed beat out an infield hit, and Cashwell smashed a double to left that scored Hunt and Reed.

Brisson laced a single to left-centerfield, and sophmore Alyssa Suggs yanked a double to left that scored Cashwell. Pharr knocked in Brisson with a single. Senior Lexie Pittman walked, and Singletary smacked a single that scored Pharr.

Reed, Brisson, and Suggs drew walks to start West Bladen’s 9-run third inning. Reed scampered home on a wild pitch, Hannah Pait’s bunt single scored Brisson, and Pharr’s fielder’s choice plated Suggs. Pittman walked, and Singletary drove in Pait and Pittman with a single.

Hunt’s single scored Singletary, and Reed ripped a double to left that scored Hunt. Cashwell reached base on a passed third strike, and Brisson’s infield hit plated Reed. Suggs beat out an infield hit and Cashwell scored the run that pushed the lead to 19-0.

Pharr swatted a single to rightfield to start the Lady Knight fourth. Pittman cracked a single to right that scored Pharr. Hunt rapped a single to center, and Reed was hit by a pitch. Cashwell clubbed a single to left that scored Hunt, and Reed scored the final West Bladen run.

Freshman Brooke Dyson cracked a 2-out single in the Lady Viking fifth inning. Senior Kristen Meares slugged a double, and infield hits by Emily Britt and sophmore Alexis Bullard scored Dyson and Meares.

Reed batted 2-2 with a double, a run batted in and 5 runs scored. Brisson was a perfect 2-2 with an rbi and 3 runs scored. Hunt finished 3-5 at the plate with 2 rbi’s and 4 runs scored. Suggs batted 2-3 with a double, an rbi and a run scored.

Cashwell finished 2-4 at the plate with 3rbi’s and 3 runs scored. Singletary batted 2-3 with 3 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Pharr was 2-4 with 2 rbi’s and 2 runs scored. Pait, Pittman and Madison Walters connected for one hit each. Pait drove in 2 runs and scored a run, and Pittman had a rbi and a run scored.

Pharr pitched 4 scoreless innings and gave up a hit and 3 walks while striking out five to pick up the win. Sophmore Taylor West worked an inning of relief and gave up 4 hits and 2 runs.

Bullard batted 2-3 with an rbi for West Columbus, and Meares doubled and scored a run. Bullard started in the pitching circle for the Lady Vikings.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 2-1 in TRC play and 3-1 overall and will host St. Pauls Tuesday night.
