BLADENBORO – West Bladen cracked 11 hits and capitalized on 14 walks and 3 hit batters to defeat West Columbus 26-0 Tuesday night in non-conference softball action.

The Lady Knights exploded for 14 runs in the 1st inning. Seniors Alyssa Suggs and Abigail Madden belted 2-run singles in the inning, and sophomore Madison Taylor and junior Hannah Pait smacked run-scoring hits.

West Bladen added 12 runs in the 2nd inning. Sophomore Mackenzie Singletary blasted a bases-cleaning 3-run triple to right-centerfield. Sophomores Kylie Durden and Rylee Chadwick, Madden, and juniors Jessalyn Vendrick and Taylor Lewis all knocked in runs with singles in the inning. Freshman Lena Trinidad also singled in the inning.

Madden batted 2-for-2 with 3 runs batted in and 4 runs scored to lead the Lady Knight hitters. Singletary smashed the 3-run triple. Trinidad, Chadwick, Taylor, Lewis, Vendrick, Hannah Pait, Suggs and Durden contributed one hit each. Trinidad scored 4 runs and drove in one. Chadwick finished with 2 RBI and 3 runs scored.

Taylor had a run scored and an rbi. Lewis scored twice and had an RBI. Vendrick drove in 2 runs and scored 2. Hannah Pait scored twice and had an RBI. Suggs and Durden drove in 2 runs each. Senior Madison Walters scored 3 runs, Durden scored twice, and junior Lauren Pait and sophomore Hailey Guyton scored one run each.

Chadwick pitched the 1st 2 innings and struck out all 6 batters that she faced. Durden relieved in the 3rd inning and allowed a walk and a hit.

Anna Ty Ivey connected for the lone West Columbus hit. Kaitlyn Clemmons started in the circle for the Lady Vikings.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 2-1 and will travel to Red Springs Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game.
