BLADENBORO – Senior Rylee Chadwick pitched a 4-hitter and struck out 7 batters to lead West Bladen to a 4-1 non-conference softball victory over South Columbus Tuesday night.

The Lady Knights scored all of their runs in the 4th inning after the visitors had grabbed an early 1-0 lead. Senior Kaitlynn Brisson raked a single to left then stole a base. Freshman Kali Allen rapped a single through the middle, and freshman Brenna Hester knocked in Brisson with the tying run with a single to left-centerfield.

Sophomore Marlene Crabtree walked to load the bases, and sophomore Holland Davis smacked a single to right-centerfield that scored Allen with the go-ahead run. Hester was thrown out at the plate on the hit, but Crabtree raced home on a passed ball. After Mackenzie Singletary and Chadwick drew walks, Davis scored on junior Gracie Faircloth’s fielder’s choice.

Junior Reah Lee sliced a double down the left field line and scored the Lady Stallion run on junior Brileigh Ward’s hump-backed liner over shortstop in the top of the fourth.

Faircloth hammered a 1st inning triple and had 1 run batted in to lead the Lady Knight hitters. Brisson, Allen, Hester and Davis collected 1 hit each. Brisson, Allen, Crabtree and Davis scored runs, and Allen, Hester and Davis had 1 RBI each.

Lee batted 2-for-3 with the double and the run scored to lead the South hitters. Ward had the RBI single, and senior Alexuz Barnes drilled a double off the fence in the 7th inning. Senior Bella Coleman pitched the 1st 4 innings and allowed all 4 runs on 5 hits and 6 walks while striking out one. Junior Olivia Watts worked 2 innings of hitless relief and struck out 2.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 6-4 and will travel to South Columbus Friday night.
