TEACHEY – Junior Sophia Singletary pitched a 2-hitter and struck out 5 batters to lead West Bladen to a 5-2 Four County Conference softball victory over Wallace-Rose Hill Friday night.

Singletary walked only one batter, and both of the Lady Bulldog runs charged to her were unearned.

The Lady Knights capitalized on a pair of Wallace miscues as juniors Kassidy Anderson and Alanna Ludlum both reached base on errors to begin the game. Junior Laikyn Pait hammered a double to drive in Anderson.

Ludlum darted home on a passed ball, and freshman Carley Dawson smacked a single to drive in Pait and put the Lady Knights ahead 3-0.

West Bladen tacked on a run in the second inning. Junior Kathryn Schultz cracked a lead-off single and advanced on an infield out. After Ludlum walked, an error on Pait’s grounder brought home Schultz and pushed the lead to 4-0.

In the Lady Knight third inning, Dawson slammed a double, and after Schultz walked, Dawson raced home on a passed ball for a 5-0 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs rallied for 2 runs in the fourth inning on a walk, an error and catcher Amber Dixon’s double. Dixon was thrown out at third base on a throw from Lady Knight rightfielder Jenna Dove to thirdbaseman Dawson.

Dawson topped the Lady Knight hitters with a 2-4 game that included a double, a run batted in and a run scored. Pait walloped the double, scored a run and drove one in. Dove smashed a double, and Schultz and Anderson added a single each. Schultz, Anderson and Ludlum scored a run each.

Dixon and Sara Darling had one hit each for Wallace. Haley Rivenbark pitched a 6-hit complete game for the Lady Bulldogs, struck out 8, walked 5 and did not allow an earned run.

Coach Joey Autry’s Lady Knights remain unbeaten in the Four County with a 2-0 record and are 3-3 overall. West Bladen will host league pre-season favorite Heide Trask at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
