West Bladen High School LogoSenior Nicole Wyatt pitched a 4-hitter and struck out six batters to lead West Bladen to a 7-2 Four County Conference softball victory on Senior Night at West Thursday night.

Sophomore Alanna Ludlum started the Lady Knight second inning with a single, and her courtesy runner, Jenna Dove, stole second base. Sophomore Kassidy Anderson beat out a bunt single, and sophmore Kathryn Schultz lifted a sacrifice fly to center-field that scored Dove with the game’s first run.

Senior Morgan Sweeney belted a single, and sophomore Sophia Singletary followed with a single. Wyatt cracked a single to load the bases. Sophomore Laikyn Pait knocked in Sweeney and Singletary with another single.

Ludlum’s fielder’s choice plated senior Allison Thompson, the courtesy runner for Wyatt, and sophomore Logan Autry’s fielder’s choice scored Ludlum and stretched the West lead to 5-0.

Sophomore Morgan Schumacher smacked a single to lead off the Lady Knight fourth inning. Sweeney ripped a single to left and an error on the play allowed both runners to race around the bases and push the lead to 7-0.

East Bladen freshman Kaley Smith laced a single to right-centerfield  and stole second base to begin the Lady Eagle fifth inning. Junior Lacey Suggs belted a single and stole a base, and an error on junior Abby Ward’s ground ball scored Smith and Suggs.

Smith batted 1-1 and scored a run for East. Seniors Anna Brewer and Lexi Dawson both finished 1-3 at the plate, and Suggs was 1-4 with a run scored.

Sweeney topped the West hitters with a 3-4 game that included 2 runs scored. Singletary batted 2-4 and scored a run. Anderson finished 2-3 at the plate. Schumacher, Pait, Wyatt and Ludlum added one hit each to the 11-hit Lady Knight attack.

Sweeney scored 2 runs, and Thompson, Dove, Ludlum, Schumacher and Singletary scored one run each. Pait drove in 2 runs, and Ludlum, Autry and Schultz had one rbi each.

Junior Miller Heustess pitched the first 3 innings for East Bladen and allowed 8 hits and 4 earned runs. Suggs came on to pitch the final 3 innings in relief and struck out 4, walked one and allowed 3 hits and no earned runs.

West Bladen seniors Nicole Wyatt, Morgan Sweeney and Allison Thompson were honored in pre-game ceremonies.

Coach Pam Stephens’ Lady Knights improved to 9-5 in the Four County and 12-8 overall. West Bladen will be the No. 2 Class 2-A play-off seed from the Four County.

East Bladen finished regular season play 10-4 in the league and 14-5 overall. Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles will be the No. 1 Class 2-A play-off seed from the Four County.
