West Bladen sophmore Conner Brisson broke up the no-hit bid for the Lady Wolfpack pitchers by smacking a 2-out single to rightfield in the fourth inning.

Both West Bladen runs came in the fifth inning against Jenna Bullard, the third Whiteville pitcher who followed Ivy Hayes and Carlee Fulkerson to the circle.

Freshman Kyla Reed drew a lead-off walk, and senior Kassidy Anderson beat out an infield hit. Senior Logan Autry dropped in another infield hit that the pitcher touched just before it went foul.

Senior Laikyn Pait’s fielder’s choice scored Reed, and junior Abby Dawson yanked a single past the thirdbaseman that brought home Anderson and trimmed the Whiteville lead to 8-2.

McLelland doubled and scored on a 2-out error in the Whiteville first inning. McLelland doubled again in the third, and Ivy Hayes sliced a 2-run single to right-centerfield for a 3-0 lead.

A pair of 2-out errors followed by a pair of bloop singles and Gabriella Hayes’ 2-run double led to 5 unearned Lady Wolfpack runs in the fourth inning for an 8-0 lead.

Whiteville connected for 4 singles in the sixth inning, before McLelland capped the inning with her 2-run homer over the left-centerfield fence.

Senior Sophia Singletary pitched the first four innings for West Bladen and allowed 8 runs – 2 earned – on ten hits and two walks. Junior Madison Collins worked the final 2 innings in the circle and gave up 5 runs on 6 hits and 2 walks.
