WHITEVILLE – Junior Ivy Hayes knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Whiteville edged West Bladen 2-1 in non-conference softball action Friday night.
An error, 2 hits and a walk produced the deciding run for the Lady Wolfpack.
Junior Raeganne Sholar led off the Whiteville first inning with a single and scored the first Lady Wolfpack run.
West Bladen senior Sophia Singletary allowed only 3 hits in the game and both runs against her were unearned.
The Lady Knights scored in the top of the first inning as senior Alanna Ludlum reached base on a passed third strike and her courtesy runner, Abby Dawson, raced home when senior Laikyn Pait cracked a single.
Pait batted 3-3 and drove in the run. Senior Kassidy Anderson and sophmore Conner Brisson smacked one single each for the other West Bladen hits.
Hayes struck out twelve and gave up 5 hits in her 8 innings in the circle for Whiteville.
