WHITEVILLE – Senior Jenna Bullard pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 9 batters to lead Whiteville to a 3-0 victory over East Bladen Saturday in the Three Rivers Conference softball opener for both schools.
Bullard walked 3 in the pitching duel against Lady Eagle junior Kayleigh Raynor who struck out 5 and walked 3.
Bullard and senior Kaitlyn Gordon drew walks and scored runs in the Whiteville 2nd inning. Senior Gabriella Hayes drove in one of the runs with a sacrifice fly.
Senior Elizabeth Wyatt who batted a perfect 2-2 singled and scored an unearned run for Whiteville in the 6th inning.
Raynor slammed a 1st inning single and a 5th inning double to lead the Lady Eagle hitters. Freshman Laura Davisson cracked a 2nd inning single for the other East Bladen hit.
The Lady Eagles will host South Columbus Tuesday night.
