ELIZABETHTOWN- Senior catcher Anna Kate White scored an insurance run then threw out a potential tying run in the seventh inning as East Bladen held off Red Springs 3-2 Thursday night in Three Rivers Conference softball action.

With the Lady Eagles leading 2-1, White cracked a one-out single in the sixth inning, advanced on a wild pitch and raced home as senior Olivia Hollingsworth reached base on an error to pad the lead to 3-1.

Sophmore Tristen Locklear and senior Kiera Bryant began the Red Springs seventh with back-to-back doubles that scored Locklear and closed the gap to 3-2. White then threw out Bryant who was attempting to steal third base. A pair of ground-outs ended the game.

Sophmore Kayleigh Raynor pitched a complete-game 4-hitter to pick up the win for the Lady Eagles. Raynor allowed 4 hits and walked none with one strikeout. Only one of the Red Springs runs was earned.

Senior Jalexis Bratcher fired a one-hitter for the Lady Red Devils with six strike-outs. Bratcher allowed no earned runs and walked three.

Raynor reached base on an error to start the East Bladen third inning, stole second, advanced on a ground-out and darted home on a wild pitch. Sophmore Alyssa Futrell walked, advanced on a wild pitch and scored as junior Lorna Mendell reached base on an error for a 2-0 lead.

Bryant singled, advanced on an error and scored on a fielder’s choice in the Red Springs fifth inning to trim the margin to 2-1.

White’s sixth-inning single was the only East Bladen hit. White, Raynor and Futrell scored runs. Bryant batted 2-3 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored to lead Red Springs, and Tristen Locklear doubled and scored.

Coach Chase Lancaster’s Lady Eagles improved to 4-6 in league play and 4-8 overall and will host South Columbus Monday night.
