Southeastern Times Recipe – Sour Cream-Praline Biscuits

The Southeastern Times was a Bladen County newspaper in the 1970s and 1980s. BladenOnline intern, Leyton Ezzell searchesyt through the pages of these old papers and finds recipes to share each week.

This week the recipe is by Barbara A. Miller and was found in the Southeastern Times issue from July 15, 1987.



⅓ cup plus 2 teaspoons butter, melted

½ cup firmly packed brown sugar

¾ cup chopped pecans

2 cups biscuit mix

1 (8-ounce) carton commercial sour


Spoon 1 ½ teaspoons butter and 2 teaspoons sugar into each cup of a muffin pan; sprinkle 1 tablespoon pecans in each cup. Set aside.

Combine biscuit mix and sour cream; beat 30 seconds, using a wooden spoon.

Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface; knead 5 times. Roll dough to ¾ inch thickness; cut with a 2-inch biscuit cutter. Place one biscuit in each cup of the muffin pan. Bake at 420 degrees for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Invert pan onto a serving platter. Serve biscuits immediately.

Yield: 1 dozen
