This recipe came from the then Newly Published Harmony Hall Cookbook and was published in February 1989.  It was submitted by Jane Ross of Elizabethtown, NC.

Yeast Dough


  • 1/2 cup hot water(120-130 degrees F)
  • 1/2 cup warm water
  • 3 cups plain flour
  • 1 package yeast
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Dissolve yeast in warm water and add egg. Soften fat in hot water, add sugar and salt. Mix these together well. Add flour. Beat well. Place in refrigerator to chill. Roll out one hour before baking. Bake at 375 degrees F. 10 – 15 minutes. Use for loaves, rolls, or cinnamon buns.
