The southeastern United States is experiencing outages with the 911 system involving multiple carriers on Thursday, according to Bladen County Emergency Management Director Bradley Kinlaw.

“In the southeastern part of the country, multiple carriers are having problems with connections with wireless and landline connections,” said Kinlaw.

He added, “When we tested ours (Bladen County 911), right now they are working.”

Kinlaw said each carrier involved in the outage is working to determine the cause of the problem and to correct it.

“During Hurricane Florence we did great. We didn’t lose the connections (to 911). During Matthew, it was a different story,” said Kinlaw.

During Hurricane Matthew Bladen County experienced a 911 outage locally; however calls were being rerouted to the Moore County 911 system until Bladen County was operating again.

Kinlaw said Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation with the 911 system.
