Spaulding Monroe Cultural Center in Bladenboro was once a school, and now serves as an outreach center. The Spaulding Monroe Alumni Association hosts events and fundraisers, offers services to veterans and local residents in need, and even has a thrift store in the Spaulding Monroe building that raises funds for the Alumni Association. On Saturday, the group hosted a barbecue plate sale to raise funds.

Plates were sold for a $10 donation, and included barbecue, baked beans, slaw, and a roll. Tents were set up in front of Spaulding Monroe Cultural Center at 10 am on Saturday, and stayed until they sold out. The event was successful in its efforts to raise funds for the Alumni Association and its work for Bladenboro and the surrounding area.

Spaulding Monroe Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization. The group invites members of the community to join, regardless of if they are Spaulding Monroe Alumni. All are welcome. The Alumni Association meets at Spaulding Monroe Cultural Center on the third Monday of each month at 6:30 pm.

Spaulding Monroe Cultural Center is located at 508 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Bladenboro.
