I enjoy scanning area news sources and see how Bladen County area athletes are doing..primarily those in various colleges….Can’t keep up with all…memory problems….

Michael Inman is having a very good year at Methodist U…Inman, a Monarch senior pitcher is sporting a 3-1 record this year and a 2.70 era…He has appeared in 10 games, started 4 games…has pitched 30 innings, given up 9 earned runs, recorded 15 strikeouts and batters are hitting a measly .204 against him…All very good stats…Inman is a West Bladen grad…

Jimmy Davis, of Elizabethtown, is a senior on the UNC-Pembroke Braves team. He had ‘Tommy John’ surgery last year and is still recuperating….He is a red-shirted senior on a team that is having a very good year. Seems all the Brave hitters are batting over .300, well, most are…

Macon Hammond, another former Knight is playing baseball with the Battling Bishops of NC Wesleyan. Hammond is playing some first base and is doing some pitching…

Haley Baxely, a Bladenboro native had a strong outing with the Barton Bulldogs softball team recently. Baxely, a former Knight Female Athlete of the Year, is a senior.

Kayla Thompson, another West Bladen grad is playing golf on the UNCW team…She suffered a knee injury recently and has been off the course but is expected to play this weekend…

At the high school level, Alex Coats is having a good spring for the East Bladen Eagles…a no hitter recently, followed up with a two hitter and another win Thursday evening…

West Bladen boys are 3-2 in conference play….East Bladen is 3-4….

Lacey Suggs continues her assault on a softball….slammed one over the fence Thursday night and had an inside the park homer….

West Bladen tennis team down the Eagles 7-2 in their most recent match….

Bad weather has altered some schedules…

All in all….another great spring…

And did you see the recent article where Brad Allen, the Lumberton resident who is among the newest NFL officials, is calling high school baseball games?…He obviously loves officiating sporting events…

29 year old Desmond Bryant may be playing along side 31 year old Karlos Dansby this season….One of the negatives about the Browns defensive line, other than Desmond Bryant, has been the other lineman average 24.8 years of age…Dansby was recently signed by the Browns after being released by the Miami Dolphins…

I am sure there are others….but failed to have an update…
