Girls’ Basketball: East Bladen 83, Red Springs 43

East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Senior Maya McDonald just missed a double-double as she led East Bladen to an 83-43 Southeastern Athletic Conference girls basketball victory over Red Springs Thursday night.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 4-1 in the SAC-7 and 15-1 overall and will travel to West Bladen Monday night. READ MORE

Boys’ Basketball: West Bladen 64, Clinton 41

West Bladen High School LogoBLADENBORO – Sophomore Malachi Allen and senior Josiah Brown combined for 28 points to lead West Bladen to a 64-41 Southeastern Athletic Conference boys’ basketball victory over Clinton Tuesday night.

Allen nailed four 3-point shots and finished with a game-high 17 points and 6 rebounds. Brown contributed 11 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists. Freshman Hezekiah Adams tallied 8 points and 2 steals. READ MORE

East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Junior Jacob Nixon poured in seven 3-point shots and scored 25 points to lead a long-range barrage that carried East Bladen’s Eagles to a 68-34 Southeastern Athletic Conference boys’ basketball victory over Midway Tuesday night.

The Eagles connected on 12 3-point shots as sophomore Lee Barnes fired in a trio of 3-balls, and juniors Malcolm Bolden and Cam White nailed one 3-point shot each. READ MORE

High School Basketball Resumes Tuesday Without Fan Limits

BasketballThere will be no limitations on the number of fans in attendance Tuesday night as both Bladen high schools will be hosting home games.

Last week admission to Wednesday’s St. Pauls at West Bladen game was limited to allowing each player and cheerleader to have only 5 family members or fans in attendance. READ MORE


All Four of Tuesday’s Bladen Middle School Games Postponed

BasketballAll four of Bladen County’s middle school basketball games that were scheduled for Tuesday have been postponed mostly due to coronavirus protocols.

The East Columbus at Elizabethtown game has been rescheduled for Jan. 24th. No make-up date yet for Clarkton School of Discovery at Tar Heel and Williams Township at Bladenboro. Emereau Bladen’s game at Christ the Cornerstone has been postponed due to covid protocols.

Vineyard Golf at White Lake announced that a Super Bowl Two-Man Scramble Tournament will be held Saturday, February 12 with a noon shotgun start.

Jay Raynor Named East Head Coach for 2022 All-Star Game

GREENSBORO – East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor has been named as head coach for the East boys’ soccer team for the 2022 East-West All-Star game that is sponsored by the North Carolina Coaches Association. The game is scheduled for July 12th.
