TABOR CITY – Bladen County pounded Columbus County 28-9 Sunday in the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Tournament.Dixie Youth BaseballCole Brisson and Dillon Brisson ignited a 5-run, first-inning with singles. Caleb Parnell hammered a double that scored Cole Brisson, and Samuel Cummings slammed a double that plated Dillon Brisson and Parnell. READ MORE

District 2 DYB Coach-Pitch Supplemental Tournament
Elizabethtown 12, South Columbus 1

TABOR CITY – Elizabethtown rode a 7-run, third-inning explosion to an 8-0 lead and eventual 12-1 victory over South Columbus Saturday in the District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Supplemental Tournament.

Aiden Trinidad smashed a first-inning double and raced home on Jaylen Smith’s single to centerfield that put Elizabethtown ahead 1-0. READ MORE

TABOR CITY – Whiteville defeated Bladen County 14-2 Saturday night in the opening round of the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 Coach-Pitch Tournament.

The Bladen All-Stars scored both of their runs in the first inning. Chase Bryan, Cole Brisson and Dillon Brisson belted consecutive singles that scored Bryan. Caleb Parnell poled a fly ball to right field that scored Cole Brisson. READ MORE

TABOR CITY – Whiteville defeated Bladen County Saturday in the opening round of  the Dixie Youth Baseball District 2 Coach-Pitch Supplemental Tournament.

Three Bladen Baseball Players Named All-Conference

East Bladen senior Sincere Smith and junior Greyson Heustess and West Bladen senior Scott Bowen have been named to the All-Three Rivers Conference baseball team.

Smith, who was drafted in the 32nd round for the Major League Baseball draft by the New York Yankees, led the Eagles with 27 hits, scored 22 runs and hammered 6 doubles and 2 triples. Heustess slammed 24 hits that included 6 doubles and 2 triples.Bowen cracked 18 hits and walloped 6 doubles for the Knights. READ MORE

Dixie Youth BaseballDistrict 9 and District 2 Dixie Youth Baseball Coach-Pitch Tournaments begin Saturday in Lumberton and Tabor City respectively.

The Elizabethtown All-Stars will play Red Springs at 11:30 Saturday morning at Lumberton’s Northwest Park in District 9 action. The Bladen County All-Stars will battle Whiteville at 6 p.m. in District 2 play at the Tabor City Recreation Complex. READ MORE

Clarkton Dixie Youth Celebrate, Reminisce With Sincere Smith

There’s an old saying, “It takes a village to raise a child.”  That is definitely true for Sincere Smith.

Drafted by the New York Yankees last week, Sincere will graduate from East Bladen High School this Saturday and will leave for the Yankees’ rookie camp in Tampa, Florida on Sunday. READ MORE

8-10 Fast-Pitch Softball: Pirates 14, Heat 3

ELIZABETHTOWN – The Pirates defeated the Heat 14-3 Wednesday night in 8-10 Fast-Pitch Softball League action at County Park.

Aiden-Noel Dove walloped a home run, batted 3-3 and scored 3 runs to lead the Pirate hitters. Teammate LeAnn Stanley hammered a double, batted 2-2 and scored a run. READ MORE

The Rockets remained undefeated in 8-10 Fast-Pitch Softball League play Wednesday night with a 12-0 victory over the Riptide.

Jaki Leal and Niyah Wooten both batted 2-2 and scored two runs each to lead the Rocket hitters. Kali Allen also finished 2-2 at the plate and scored a run. READ MORE

Lil Knights Basketball Camp scheduled

The Lil West Bladen High School LogoKnights Basketball Camp is scheduled for July 10, 11 and 12 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. daily.  Activities will include skills and fundamentals with age appropriate goals, working with high school coaches and college players, and games will be played each day.

Smith set to report to Yankees Rookie Camp

Sincere Smith will report to the New York Yankees rookie camp in Tampa, Florida, this weekend.

Wednesday, friends and family hosted a celebration in his honor at the home of Coach Russell and Doll Priest in Elizabethtown.

Smith was recently selected by the Yankees in the 32nd round of the MLB draft. READ MORE

ELIZABETHTOWN – The Navy pounded out 15 hits en route to a 14-5 victory over Columbia in Dixie Boys Baseball action Wednesday night at County Park.

East Bladen Football Summer Work-outs Begin Tuesday

East Bladen High SchoolEast Bladen Coach Robby Priest has announced that Eagle football summer work-outs will begin Tuesday, June 12 from 5-7 p.m. Players should bring cleats, shoes and make sure they have an updated physical on file.

According to Coach Priest, the summer work-outs are not required nor mandatory, but are strongly encouraged. READ MORE

East Bladen Dominates All-Conference Girls Soccer Selections

East Bladen’s Lady Eagles dominated the All-Three Rivers Conference girls soccer selections with Ashley Hardin being named the league’s Player of the Year, Coach Jay Raynor honored as Coach of the Year and four more Lady Eagles receiving first team All-TRC honors.

Other first team Lady Eagle All-Conference picks included senior Hannah Devane, junior Ting Lin, sophmore Patience Ward and junior Sarah Johnson. West Bladen’s Glorimar Cruz-Pagon was also chosen to the All-Conference team. READ MORE

Three Bladen Girls Named All-Conference Softball

West Bladen catcher Alara Cashwell and pitcher Madison Collins and East Bladen pitcher Kayleigh Raynor have all been named to the All-Three Rivers Conference softball team.

Cashwell batted a sizzling .466 for the Lady Knights and knocked in 38 runs. Collins was a workhorse in the circle for the Lady Knights pitching 14 complete games and striking out 98 batters in 135 innings. Raynor recorded victories in 5 of her last 8 starts to key a late-season run by the Lady Eagles. READ MORE

Blue Jays Win Elizabethtown Minor League Tournament

Dixie Youth BaseballThe Blue Jays won the Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball Minor League Tournament championship Friday night by defeating the Tigers in the title game.

The Tigers had defeated the Twins in the semi-finals, while the Blue Jays advanced to the title game with a win over the Orioles.

Dixie Boys Baseball: Royal 3, Navy 1

ELIZABETHTOWN – Pitcher Destin Montgomery knocked in the go-ahead run as the Royal defeated the Navy 3-1 Friday night in Bladen Recreation Dixie Boys Baseball action at County Park.

The two teams were tied 1-1 when Coleman Tatum dumped a single off the shortstop’s glove. Montgomery ripped a double down the leftfield line that scored Coleman Tatum. READ MORE

Tinyauh Rhoda stole home with the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning to lift the Comets to a 7-6 victory over the Slammers in 13-16 Fast-Pitch Softball League action at County Park.

Rhoda drew a lead-off walk to begin the Comet sixth inning, then stole second and third before racing home with one out. READ MORE

11-12 Fast-Pitch Softball League: Thunder 8, Force 6

The Thunder built an 8-3 lead and held on for an 8-6 victory over the Force in Bladen Recreation 11-12 Fast-Pitch Softball action at County Park.

Marlie Walters batted 2-2 with a run scored for the Thunder. Shortstop Lena Trinidad slammed a double and a single and scored twice for the winners. Teammate Megan Pait batted 2-3 and scored a run. READ MORE
