Jay Raynor Named East Head Coach for 2022 All-Star Game

GREENSBORO – East Bladen Coach Jay Raynor has been named as head coach for the East boys’ soccer team for the 2022 East-West All-Star game that is sponsored by the North Carolina Coaches Association. The game is scheduled for July 12th.

“It is definitely an honor, and when you look at the coaches who have been chosen before me I am humbled,” said Raynor. READ MORE

Coach Harold Ford Remembered as Role Model, Inspiration, Father Figure, A Blessing

An inspiration, role model, a father figure, a great person, a blessing, a coach and an educator – those were some of the words used by former players and fellow coaches to describe Coach Harold Ford who passed away Monday.

Ford led Clarkton to 5 state championship games in basketball and finally won his state championship in 1985, but his former players and friends spent most of their time talking about Coach Ford – the person. READ MORE

Couch Potato: On Sunday, Elizabethtown DYB folks rested

After nine days, 42 games and an opening ceremony that involved 23 teams comprised of more than 300 players and coaches, the folks involved with Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball could relax after hosting an event seemingly of biblical proportions. It was a break well deserved. READ MORE



West Bladen Girls Tennis Practice Aug. 2nd

West Bladen High School LogoWest Bladen Coach Billy Bryant has announced that girls tennis practice will begin Monday, August 2 at 3:30 p.m.

“Girls that wish to participate will need to have an updated physical before they can practice,” said Coach Bryant. “I am looking forward to a good season with several returning players.”



East Bladen Girls Tennis Practice Aug. 2nd

East Bladen High SchoolCoach Megan Kirby has announced that East Bladen girls tennis practice will start Monday, August 2nd at 8:30 AM.

Interested participants must have a physical on file and completed necessary documents in the Family ID system (https://www.familyid.com/east-bladen-high-school/east-bladen-high-school-2021-2022-athletic-registration).

NC DYB D1 Majors Division 1 State Championship: West Robeson 6, Elizabethtown 2

ELIZABETHTOWN – Ayden Hammond scattered 7 hits and struck out 9 as West Robeson defeated Elizabethtown 6-2 Saturday in the North Carolina Division 1 Dixie Youth Baseball Majors State Tournament Championship Game.

West Robeson advances to the Dixie Youth Majors World Series in Laurel, Mississippi. Elizabethtown finishes as Dixie Youth Majors State Runners-Up. READ MORE

NC DYB D1 Majors State Tournament: Elizabethtown 10, Fairmont 4

ELIZABETHTOWN –Cam Byers blasted a grand-slam home run that propelled Elizabethtown to a 10-4 victory over Fairmont Friday night in the North Carolina Dixie Youth Majors State Tournament.

The victory sends Elizabethtown into the state championship game Saturday morning at 10:00 against West Robeson. Both teams have 1 loss in the tournament. READ MORE

NC DYB D1 Majors State Tournament: West Robeson 9, Elizabethtown 6

ELIZABETHTOWN – Eli Freeman pitched 4 innings of scoreless relief as West Robeson rallied for a 9-6 victory over Elizabethtown Thursday night in the North Carolina Dixie Youth Baseball Division 1 Majors State Tournament.

It was Elizabethtown’s 1st loss in the tournament and leaves Elizabethtown, West Robeson and Fairmont with 1 loss each in the double-elimination event. Elizabethtown will play Fairmont Friday at 6:30 p.m. READ MORE

West Bladen High School LogoShy’Ron Adams and Tinyauh Rhoda received Senior Athlete of the Year recognition as West Bladen announced their athletic awards for the 2020-2021 school year. Adams who was named the Male Senior Athlete of the Year as well as receiving Most Valuable Player awards for Track and Basketball as well as Offensive Player of the Year. READ MORE

East Bladen High SchoolSenior Rasean McKoy was named Most Valuable Player as Coach Robby Priest announced the awards for East Bladen football. McKoy rushed for 1,169 yards and 15 touchdowns and totaled almost 1,400 all-purpose yards and 19 touchdowns for the season. READ MORE


Grant Pait Named Three Rivers Baseball Co-Coach of the Year

TABOR CITY – East Bladen Coach Grant Pait has been named the Three Rivers Conference Baseball Co-Coach of the Year along with East Columbus Coach Brad Smith.

The Eagles were Three Rivers co-champions along with East Columbus. East Bladen finished the season with a 12-5 record. READ MORE

Zach Meares Named Three Rivers Conference Baseball Player Of the Year

TABOR CITY – East Bladen senior standout Zach Meares has been named the Three Rivers Conference Baseball Player of the Year.

Meares finished the season with a 7-0 pitching record and allowed only 1 earned run in 44 innings pitched (0.16 earned run average) while striking out 79 batters. READ MORE

Realignment Plan for 2021-2025 Finalized

The NCHSAA’s Board of Directors finalized the realignment plan for the 2021-2025 sports seasons, and East Bladen and West Bladen will be in a slightly different and smaller conference than this year’s Three Rivers Conference.

The new conference that will initiate play in the fall of 2021 will retain current Three Rivers Conference members West Bladen, East Bladen, Fairmont, Red Springs and St. Pauls and welcome Sampson County schools Clinton and Midway. All 7 teams are Class 2A schools. READ MORE
