JV Baseball: East Bladen 4, Heide Trask 0

ELIZABETHTOWN – Tyler Eason and Braylon Cromartie teamed up to pitch a 3-hit shutout as the Eagles posted a 4-0 Waccamaw Conference jayvee baseball victory Friday over Heide Trask.

Coach James Ben Daly’s Eagles improved to 5-0-1 in conference play and 6-1-2 overall and will host West Columbus Tuesday. READ MORE



Baseball: Heide Trask 8, East Bladen 5

ELIZABETHTOWN – A trio of 2-out hits in the 7th inning snapped a 5-5 tie and propelled Heide Trask to an 8-5 Waccamaw Conference baseball victory over East Bladen Friday night.

East Bladen, now 6-2 in league play and 8-8 overall, will host West Columbus Tuesday night. READ MORE



Girls Soccer: Heide Trask 3, East Bladen 2

ELIZABETHTOWN – Heide Trask edged East Bladen 3-2 Friday night in Waccamaw Conference girls’ soccer action.

Junior Iveonna “NeNe” Ward and senior Heidi Rebollar scored the Lady Eagle goals. East Bladen scored a goal in each half.

East Bladen is now 6-2 in league play and 8-2-1 overall. Trask improved to 4-0 in league play and 8-5-1 overall.



Thunderstorm Halts West Bladen Softball, Baseball

BLADENBORO – A powerful thunderstorm knocked out the power at West Bladen Friday night and stopped all of the athletic events.

The softball game was halted after 3 innings with Midway leading 11-2. The baseball game never started.

The makeup date for baseball and softball have yet to be determined.



Girls Soccer: West Bladen 0, Midway 0

BLADENBORO – West Bladen and Midway battled to a scoreless tie for 55 minutes Friday night before a thunderstorm knocked out the lights. The Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ soccer match will be declared a tie as play was unable to continue.

West Bladen is now 0-3-1 in SAC play and 1-5-2 overall. The Lady Knights will host St. Pauls Tuesday night. READ MORE



Softball: Heide Trask 17, East Bladen 3

ELIZABETHTOWN – A 10-run 6th inning broke open a 7-2 game and propelled Heide Trask to a 17-3 Waccamaw Conference softball victory over East Bladen Friday night.

East Bladen, now 1-7 in league play and 3-8 overall, will host West Columbus Tuesday night. READ MORE



JV Baseball: Midway 10, West Bladen 0

BLADENBORO – Sophomore Jackson Campbell pitched a 3-hit shutout and struck out 6 to lead Midway to a 10-0 Southeastern Athletic Conference jayvee baseball victory over West Bladen Friday.

Since West Bladen and Midway are the only 2 Southeastern Athletic Conference teams that field jayvee teams, this is scheduled to be the final game of the season for the West jayvees who currently own a 1-7-1 record. READ MORE

The Twins played the Dodgers on Wednesday night in an Elizabethtown DYB Minor League game at Leinwand Park. The Dodgers won 7-6 and remained in first place in the three-team league with a 5-0 record.

Golf: West Bladen Wins First SAC Match

WHITEVILLE – For the first time since West Bladen joined the Southeastern Athletic Conference, the Knights won a regular season golf match. The Knights carded a 324 total Tuesday at Land O’ Lakes Golf Club to edge 2nd place Midway by 3 strokes.

The next SAC golf match will be played Monday at Fairmont Golf Club. READ MORE

CLINTON – West Bladen pounded out 19 hits and snapped an 8-8 tie with a 7-run 4th inning explosion enroute to a 19-8 Southeastern Athletic Conference softball victory over Clinton Wednesday night.

Golf: Whiteville Wins 6th Straight Waccamaw Match

RIEGELWOOD – Whiteville’s Wolfpack posted a team total of 346 to win Tuesday’s Waccamaw Conference golf match at Riegelwood Country Club by 34 strokes over South Columbus who recorded a 380 total.

ELIZABETHTOWN – Fox Sutton pitched a 3-hitter and struck out 11 batters to lead Elizabethtown to an 8-3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Tabor City Wednesday.

BURGAW – Six East Bladen girls’ basketball players – Iveonna “NeNe” Ward, Laila Smith, Ariel Cromartie, Zoe Smith, Niyah Wooten and Cabria Baldwin – have been selected to receive All-Waccamaw Conference honors.

LELAND – Bladenboro’s Dixie Belles softball team opened their season Sunday by sweeping a pair of games from North Brunswick teams – 14-3 over the North Lady Stingers then 18-1 over the North Lady Dodgers.

Ann Hancock’s Wingate Bulldogs Win South Atlantic Conference Tournament

WINGATE – Elizabethtown native Ann Hancock coached her Wingate Bulldogs to the women’s basketball tournament championship of the 2024 South Atlantic Conference that earned a berth in the NCAA Tournament for Wingate.

It was the 6th women’s basketball championship that Wingate’s teams have won under Hancock. READ MORE

West Bladen Athletics Golf Tournament

The West Bladen Athletic Department will sponsor a 4-man Captain’s Choice golf tournament to be held at Land O’Lakes Golf Course on Saturday, April 27th. Entry fee is $260 per team.

Food and door prizes will be provided. There will be Longest Drive, Closest to Pin and Putting contests. There will be 3 flights that will be flighted after the rounds are complete. READ MORE

Whack Smack It Golf Tournament Set June 14 At Vineyard Golf

The 2nd Annual Whack Smack It Golf Tournament to benefit the Jim and Sue Schultz Foundation is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at Vineyard Golf at White Lake.

The proceeds from the tournament will go to East Bladen and West Bladen athletic departments and Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball. Each organization received $5,000 from the Schultz Foundation from last year’s tournament.

More information about this year’s tournament will be announced at a later date.
