East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Red Springs defeated East Bladen 39-34 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference jayvee boys basketball action.

Charles Brown pumped in a pair of first-quarter baskets, Corey McKoy nailed a 3-point shot and Tayshaun Berkeley tossed in a basket and a free throw to keep the Eagles within 12-11 at the quarter break. READ MORE

East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – East Bladen’s Lady Eagles avenged their only loss of the season Friday night with a 48-32 girls basketball victory over second-place Red Springs in Three Rivers Conference action.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles opened up a 2-game lead over Red Springs as they improved to 10-1 in league play and 15-1 overall. READ MORE

LAKE WACCAMAW – Seniors Jimmy Williams and Gerardo Reyes led an overtime surge by West Bladen that produced a 75-73 boys basketball victory over East Columbus Friday night in Three Rivers Conference action.

The teams completed regulation play knotted 65-65. Williams nailed a 3-point shot to begin the extra period and later added a free throw. Reyes popped in a basket and 2 free throws, while junior Jaheim Lesane sank a pair of free throws to helped seal the victory. READ MORE

East Bladen High SchoolELIZABETHTOWN – Red Springs made two free throws with 3.8 seconds left to edge East Bladen 55-53 Friday night in Three Rivers Conference boys basketball action.

With the score knotted 53-53, the Eagles missed a lay-up with 14 seconds remaining, before the Red Devils gained possession and took the lead at the foulline. An Eagle attempt to win at the buzzer failed. READ MORE

Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson Scores 1,000th Point

Junior guard Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson scored the 1,000th point of her East Bladen basketball career Tuesday night in the Lady Eagles 68-62 win at West Bladen.

Moore-Peterson went into Tuesday’s game with a total of 996 career points. After tossing in a first-period basket, Moore-Peterson reached the 1,000 point mark with her first basket of the second quarter. READ MORE

DUBLIN – Juniors Erica McKoy and Ja’Tyra Moore-Peterson combined for 41 points Tuesday night to lead East Bladen to a 68-62 girls basketball victory over West Bladen in Three Rivers Conference action.

McKoy poured in a career-high 23 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and dished out 6 assists in her first game against her former team. Moore-Peterson fired in 18 points in surpassing 1,000 points in her career. READ MORE
