Track & Field Meet: East Bladen Boys & Girls Place 3rd

BURGAW – East Bladen scored well in the sprints and relays Thursday to place 3rd in both the boys and girls team competitions in the 1st Waccamaw Conference track & field meet of the season.

Three West Bladen Knights on All-SAC Boys Basketball Team

DUNN – West Bladen’s Chase Williams, Hezekiah Adams and Jackson Pait have all been named to the All-Southeastern Athletic Conference Boys Basketball Team. The trio led the Knights to a 24-2 record, the SAC regular season co-championship and the SAC Tournament Championship.

Co-Coaches of the Year for the SAC were West Bladen’s Travis Pait and Fairmont’s Montrell McNair. READ MORE



Bladen 10U Girls Finish 3rd in SWAC State Tournament

BEULAVILLE – The Bladen County 10U Girls All-Stars lost to Duplin County Sunday and finished 3rd in the StateWide Activities Committee State Tournament. Duplin advanced to Sunday’s 3 p.m. championship game.

Coach Jerry Campbell’s Bladen County All-Stars defeated Wendell Friday night, and Lee County Saturday to advance to the semifinals. READ MORE

Chase Williams Named All-District First Team

West Bladen junior Chase Williams has been named to the 2023-24 North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association Boys All-District First Team for District 2.

Williams, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 17.5 points, 9 rebounds, 2.2 blocked shots and 2.6 assists as he helped lead the Knights to a 24-2 record. READ MORE



Bladen 10U Girls Advance to State Basketball Semifinals

BEULAVILLE – The Bladen County 10U Girls All-Stars have won 2 of their 3 games in the StateWide Activities Committee state basketball tournament and will play in the semifinals Sunday at 1 p.m.

Scorecard Playoff Determines ECA Legacy Golf Tournament Winner

Thirty teams of four players each teed it up Saturday, March 16 in the first Elizabethtown Christian Academy Legacy Golf Tournament held at Vineyard Golf at White Lake.

Three teams tied for low with scores of 19-under 53. A scorecard playoff was held and the team of Goldston’s Beach was awarded first place. Other teams with 19-under was Thomas Williams, Kalel Hunt, Joseph Lyda and Justin Godwin and the team of Brian Tart, George Bousaais, Bobby Davis and Mark Mendell.

Baseball: East Bladen 7, South Columbus 6

TABOR CITY — East Bladen built a 7-1 lead then survived a pair of South Columbus rallies to claim a 7-6 Waccamaw Conference baseball victory Friday night.

Coach Grant Pait’s Eagles evened their Waccamaw record at 1-1 and improved to 2-4 overall. The Eagles will travel to Clinton Monday for a 6:30 non-conference game. READ MORE

Bladen County 10U Girls All-Stars Play Friday in State Tournament

Bladen County will open play in the State 10U Girls Tournament on Friday at 8 p.m. against Wendell. Six teams are competing in the state tournament at Beulaville Elementary School, 138 Lyman Rd, Beulaville. Bladen All-Stars are coached by Jerry Campbell.

Vineyard Golf at White Lake has scheduled a two-person Masters Tournament on Saturday, April 6 leading up to the week of the iconic major professional tournament.

The Vineyard Golf Masters will have a 1 p.m. shotgun with a best ball format on the front nine and Texas Scramble used on the back nine. READ MORE

Bladen County Tournament Boys Championship: Tar Heel 43, Bladenboro 23

BLADENBORO- Cedrick McKiver, Demarious Guions and C. J. Lewis sparked Tar Heel to a 24-8 halftime lead and eventual 43-23 victory Wednesday over Bladenboro in the championship game of the Bladen County Boys Tournament.

Coach Ken Cross’ Panthers were the Waccamaw ‘A’ Division champions and completed their season with an 12-1 record. The Bulldogs completed their season with a 7-4 record. READ MORE

Bladen County Middle School Girls Championship: Elizabethtown 41, Clarkton School of Discovery 12

BLADENBORO — Elizabethtown’s inside duo of Ellen Battle and Sana’a Singletary combined for 29 points and 19 rebounds Wednesday to lead the Lady Cougars to a 41-12 middle school victory over Clarkton School of Discovery in the championship game of the Bladen County Girls Tournament.

CLINTON – For the 3rd consecutive week, West Bladen’s Knights placed 3rd in their Southeastern Athletic Conference golf match Monday behind first-place Midway and 2nd place Clinton.

WINSTON-SALEM — East Columbus’ inside duo of sophomore Malia Graham and senior Chynna Patrick combined for 47 points and 27 rebounds Monday to lead the Lady Gators to a 76-66 victory over East Bladen in the NCHSAA Class 1A Eastern Regional Girls Championship Game at Lawrence Joel Memorial Coliseum.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles completed their season with a 25-5 record, a Waccamaw Conference Co-Championship, and Eastern 1A Runners-up finish. READ MORE

SFGA Releases Season Schedule, Opens March 19

The Southeastern Fellowship Golf Association has released its 2024 schedule.

The weekly Tuesday tournaments that tee off at 10 a.m. will begin March 19 at Land ‘O Lakes Golf Club in Whiteville. It’s the first of 17 tournaments at the Columbus County golf and also will be the site of the final tournament November 12. READ MORE


Whack Smack It Golf Tournament Set June 14 At Vineyard Golf

The 2nd Annual Whack Smack It Golf Tournament to benefit the Jim and Sue Schultz Foundation is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at Vineyard Golf at White Lake.

The proceeds from the tournament will go to East Bladen and West Bladen athletic departments and Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball. Each organization received $5,000 from the Schultz Foundation from last year’s tournament.

More information about this year’s tournament will be announced at a later date.
