CERRO GORDO – East Bladen connected for 17 hits and capitalized on 11 errors and 7 walks to defeat West Columbus 20-10 Thursday night in Waccamaw Conference softball action.

Coach Alan West’s Lady Eagles improved to 3-7 in Waccamaw play and 5-9 overall. East Bladen will visit Hobbton for a non-conference game Monday night. READ MORE

CERRO GORDO – East Bladen scored the 1st 6 runs, and West Columbus scored the final 6 runs including 3 in their last at-bat as the teams battled to a 6-6 tie Thursday in Waccamaw Conference jayvee baseball action.

Middle School Baseball: Bladenboro 6, Clarkton School of Discovery 3

BLADENBORO – Pitcher Luke Bryant’s double highlighted a 6-run 4th inning that rallied Bladenboro to a 6-3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday.

Coach Tim Benton’s Bulldogs remained unbeaten on the season with a 6-0 record and will travel to West Columbus Tuesday. Clarkton, now 3-4, will host West Columbus Monday. READ MORE



Middle School Softball: Bladenboro 14, Clarkton School of Discovery 4

BLADENBORO – Maycee Kinlaw and Allison Hickman combined to pitch a 2-hitter and strike out 10 batters, and the Bladenboro offense pounded out 17 hits in a 14-4 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday.

Track & Field Meet: East Bladen Girls Place 4th; Boys 5th

ROCKY POINT – East Bladen’s girls rode a strong showing in the hurdles and relays to a 4th place finish, while the East boys did well in the sprints and the discus to place 5th in the boys’ meet at the 4th Waccamaw Conference track & field meet of the season Monday at Heide Trask High.

BLADENBORO – West Bladen and East Columbus battled to a scoreless tie Wednesday night in non-conference girls’ soccer action. West Bladen’s senior goalie Briana Carranza Toledo recorded the shutout and was credited with 11 saves.

Coach Kristen Parker’s Lady Knights are now 2-5-3 and will return to Southeastern Athletic Conference play Friday night at St. Pauls. READ MORE

Golf: Midway Wins Southeastern Match; West Bladen 3rd

FAIRMONT – Midway bounced back from dropping their 1st match of the season last week to post a 329 total and win Monday’s Southeastern Athletic Conference golf match at Fairmont Golf Course by 17 strokes over Clinton.

SFGA Plays Two-Net Score Tournament at Land ‘O Lakes

The Southeastern Fellowship Golf Association played a two-net score tournament at Land ‘O Lakes Golf Club in Whiteville on Tuesday, April 16 with 46 members participating.

BLADENBORO –Junior Garrett Dunham pitched a complete game 8-hitter as West Bladen’s Knights defeated 1st place Midway 6-1 Monday night in Southeastern Athletic Conference baseball action. It was the Knights’ 1st win over Midway since both teams were placed in the SAC for the 2021-22 season.

Coach Wade Pait’s Knights evened their SAC record at 2-2 and improved to 6-9 overall. The Knights will host St. Pauls’ Tuesday night. READ MORE

BLADENBORO –Midway pounded out 15 hits and defeated West Bladen 17-4 Monday night in a Southeastern Athletic Conference softball game that was suspended by a power outage due to a thunderstorm Friday night. Midway led 11-2 when the game was stopped by the storm.

Golf: Whiteville Wins Waccamaw Match; East Bladen Is 3rd

ELIZABETHTOWN – Whiteville’s Wolfpack posted a team total of 342 to win Monday’s Waccamaw Conference golf match at Vineyard Golf by 22 strokes over South Columbus. East Bladen carded a 368 total to finish in 3rd place only 4 strokes behind South.

NAKINA – A 6-run 4th inning closed out a 12-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory for Nakina over Tar Heel Monday.

Dylan McLaurin singled, stole a base and scored the Tar Heel run when Demarious Guions knocked a single down the right field line. Levi Velasco-Garcia pitched a complete game for the Panthers.


Middle School Baseball: Whiteville Central 17, Clarkton School of Discovery 2

WHITEVILLE– Tayler Rose pitched a 3-inning no-hitter and struck out 5 batters to lead Whiteville Central to a 17-2 Waccamaw Middle School Conference baseball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Monday.

East Bladen is now 6-2 in league play and 8-2-1 overall. Trask improved to 4-0 in league play and 8-5-1 overall.


Thunderstorm Halts West Bladen Softball, Baseball

BLADENBORO – A powerful thunderstorm knocked out the power at West Bladen Friday night and stopped all of the athletic events.

The softball game was halted after 3 innings with Midway leading 11-2. The baseball game never started.

The makeup date for baseball and softball have yet to be determined.

West Bladen Athletics Golf Tournament

The West Bladen Athletic Department will sponsor a 4-man Captain’s Choice golf tournament to be held at Land O’Lakes Golf Course on Saturday, April 27th. Entry fee is $260 per team.

Food and door prizes will be provided. There will be Longest Drive, Closest to Pin and Putting contests. There will be 3 flights that will be flighted after the rounds are complete. READ MORE

Whack Smack It Golf Tournament Set June 14 At Vineyard Golf

The 2nd Annual Whack Smack It Golf Tournament to benefit the Jim and Sue Schultz Foundation is scheduled for Friday, June 14 at Vineyard Golf at White Lake.

The proceeds from the tournament will go to East Bladen and West Bladen athletic departments and Elizabethtown Dixie Youth Baseball. Each organization received $5,000 from the Schultz Foundation from last year’s tournament.

More information about this year’s tournament will be announced at a later date.
