ELIZABETHTOWN, NC – If you’ve ever dreamed of turning fresh fruit into jars of sweet, spreadable joy, now’s your chance to get sticky (in the best way possible). The NC Cooperative Extension is inviting locals to “Get Jammin’” at their Hands-On Jams & Jellies Workshop, held at the Bladen Extension Office, 450 Smith Circle.

This is not your average kitchen chore—it’s a jam-packed experience (pun very much intended). Participants will dive into the delightful world of home preserving, learning essential techniques and pro tips to ensure their jams and jellies don’t just taste great, but last.

What’s in it for you?

  • Hands-on instruction from friendly experts

  • All the materials you’ll need

  • A whole lot of fun

  • And best of all—your very own jar of homemade jelly to take home!

Choose from two convenient workshop sessions:

  • June 24, 10 a.m. – 12 noon

  • June 26, 6 – 8 p.m.

Cost: Just $10 per person, which covers everything—including the sweet souvenir jar you’ll proudly put on your breakfast table. Payment can be made by exact cash or check, and spots are limited. Register by June 18 to secure your seat.

Jessie Jones, Extension Family and Consumer Sciences Agent, will lead the event with the perfect blend of know-how and enthusiasm. “We’re all about preserving tradition while having a blast,” says Jones. “There’s something magical about transforming simple ingredients into something special—and sharing that knowledge with our community.”

So if your summer fruit haul is looking bountiful, or you just want to learn a timeless skill and make something tasty, come jam with your neighbors!

To register or get more info, contact Jessie at 910-862-4591 or jessie_jones@ncsu.edu. Need special accommodations? Just reach out by June 17 and the team will make sure you’re covered.

Because in Bladen County, we don’t just spread the news—we spread the jelly, too. Are you ready to Get Jammin’?
