The Cooperative Council’s annual Cooperative Leadership camp is scheduled June 14-18 at the N.C. FFA Center at White Lake. The overnight camp is open to rising sophomore, junior and senior high school students who are interested in energetic and interactive workshops, outdoor recreation and leadership development, team building activities, and small group session with an emphasis on how cooperatives operate.

The camp is designed to allow students time for learning about the cooperative way of life during the morning, and free to enjoy the lake in the afternoons.

Five students are selected each year to receive “Cooperative Leadership Awards.” The students selected will be awarded an expense-paid trip to the National Institute on Cooperative Education. Each student who attends the Co-Op Leadership camp at White Lake also is eligible to apply for a $1,000 college scholarship.

Star Communications will sponsor two students to attend the camp at White Lake. If interested, contact Sara Boyer, Star Communications’ Community Relations Coordinator, at (910) 564-7891.
