Members of the Elizabethtown-White Lake Chamber of Commerce learned about making commercials and marketing their business thanks to Star Communications, who was also the spotlighted business.
Dickie Walters and Chris Heuer with Star Communications explained how commercials are made using digital technology to simulate a home on fire, an accident and more. They also briefly discussed various services offered by Star Communications such as internet, television, security services, cell phone services, and telephone services.
“Telephone is changing day in and day out. Most people are going away from the regular phone lines at their residence and we started saying what can we do differently? The advent of fiber (fiber optic cable) we are really able to do a lot with the telephone service,” said Dickie Walters.
They also showed those gathered some samples of footage taken around Bladen County that will eventually be utilized to promote events in the county such as the Summer Sounds Concert Series, Sunset Jams concert series, White Lake Water Festival, and various businesses. They announced they are assisting the Chamber in creating a series of commercials which can be utilized to promote the Bladen County.
Chamber Executive Director Dawn Maynard said the idea of the promotional video grew out of the small business meeting which was conducted about one year ago at Cape Fear Vineyard and Winery. She said grant money is available to help defray the cost.
“That’s what we need. Something to promote tourism for Bladen County and White Lake is such a gem of a community for bringing those folks (tourists) to us,” said Maynard.
Maynard said she is very excited to see the final video when it is completed.
