Elizabethtown, NC – At the May Board of Education meeting, board members recognized two students for their recent 1st place wins. Bladen County had several students compete in the State Soil and Water Conservation Education Contest. These students competed with other students across the State.

Soil and Water events increase awareness of natural resources and ecosystems while encouraging life-long stewardship.

Student populations are reached in several ways: a curriculum focusing on connections between food, land and people, environmental science competitions and contests with top-scoring individuals and teams earning college scholarship and cash prizes. Every effort is made to help students develop the knowledge and skills required to step into future leadership positions in natural resource management.

We are proud to announce that two Bladen County students have won 1stplace at the State level competition:

·       From Bladenboro Primary – Julia Deavers, 1st place in the 4th grade poster contest

·       From Clarkton School of Discovery – Nick Norris, 1st place in the 6thgrade Slideshow contest
