The Bladen County 10U Allstars advanced to the championship game of the State-Wide Activities Committee (SWAC) State Softball Tournament Sunday behind a strong pitching performance from Rylee Chadwick who

struck out 12 batters in four innings. The Bladen hitters were just as dominant in the 9-1 victory over Rolesville.

Bladen Co. took a 3-1 lead on Saturday afternoon before the game was postponed until Sunday morning due to weather. Chadwick issued a lead-off walk in the top of the first inning then struck out the next three batters.

In the bottom of the inning, Chadwick roped a one-out single to right centerfield then stole second. Emma Turbeville drew a walk, and both Chadwick and Turbeville stole bases on throwbacks to the pitcher. After MacKenzie Singletary flew out, Lainey Hughes smashed her second double of the tournament to score both

runners and give Bladen County the 3-0 lead.

After Chadwick recorded her fourth consecutive strikeout in the top of the second, a Rolesville hitter turned a bunt single into a three-base error and scored the opponent’s only run.

Bladen County went quietly in the bottom half of the frame after Madison Taylor walked and Gracie

Faircloth was hit by a pitch. Chadwick breezed through a rainy top half of the third with

three strikeouts before the game was postponed.

On Sunday morning, the Bladen County bats buried Rolesville with three more runs starting with

Chadwick’s inside-the-park home run to left field. The blast gave Chadwick her third multi-hit game of the tournament.

Turbeville followed with a single and stole second and third bases before Hughes connected for a single with a line drive to centerfield. Hughes stole second and third and scored after Taylor continued her three game hitting streak with a single to right field.

Chadwick picked up where she left off the evening before striking out her 10th, 11th and 12th

batters of the contest.

After a Zoe Smith pop-up in the bottom of the fourth, Laci Storms legged out an infield single and moved to   second when Addie  Bowen ripped a shot to leftfield. Chadwick belted a single, and Turbeville hammered a single up the middle before time expired to give Bladen County the win.

Chadwick led all hitters with three hits that included the home run. Turbeville and Hughes added two hits each, and Bowen and Taylor continued their hot hitting with one hit each. Chadwick scored three times, Turbeville and Hughes scored twice each and Bowen and Storms crossed the plate one time each to wrap up the scoring.
