Get on your mark, get set, and shop! This Labor Day weekend promises to be a great time to save as merchants in downtown Elizabethtown are slashing prices in  preparation for the annual Labor Day Sidewalk Sale.

Stores will be offering plenty of bargains from which folks can choose. Summer merchandise as well as new arrivals will be available and there is plenty that is sure to please even the most discerning shopper.

Mike Suggs, owner of Fisher’s Men’s and Ladies Shop, said shoppers will find plenty of shorts and T-shirts on sale. he said Southern Tide brand items will be on sale for half-price. All items on the sidewalk will be reduced 50 to 90 percent.

Suggs said there will also be a special on long-sleeve school uniform shirts. Youth sizes are $6 and adult sizes are $7.

Suggs said the store will be open on Friday, Sept. 2; Saturday, Sept. 3, and Monday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Both Ricky Leinwand and son, Michael Leinwand, of Leinwand’s, said the staff in their store is excited about the sale and they have been busy getting things ready.

“It means a lot. I mean that as far as business and the end of summer go. It’s a chance to clear out our inventory,” said Ricky Leinwand.

Some bargains shoppers can expect to see are Patagonia Ladies and Men’s jackets for $49.95, and Southern Tide, Southern Marsh and Vineyard Vines items selling for $39.95.

Michael Leinwand said that shoppers will find some winter items on the sidewalk sale this year, too. He said there will be both coats and sweaters.

Michael Leinwand said items on the sidewalk will be reduced as much as 50 to 90 percent. He added items inside the store will be 20 to 50 percent.

The store will be open on Friday, Sept. 2; Saturday, Sept. 3, and Monday, Sept. 5, from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.
