Recovery efforts from Hurricane Matthew are under way in Bladen County. Some roads in Bladen County remain flooded while others have wash outs. There are also power outages due to broken power line poles and trees on power lines.

There are some areas of Bladen County that are without water. Bladen County Manager Greg Martin said that county residents who are without power are asked to boil their water when it comes back on until all systems are back online.

Bradley Kinlaw with Bladen County Emergency Management said that at the height of the storm 180 people utilized storm shelters. As of Sunday afternoon that number was reduced to 12.

As of 3:30 p.m. Sunday Duke Energy reported 538,948 customers were without power in North Carolina. In Bladen County, the company reported 7,758 customers were without power. The company serves 8,796 customers throughout Bladen County.

Four County Electric Membership Corporation reported that 8,939 customers were without power in Bladen County. The company reported that 22,988 customers in North Carolina were without power Sunday afternoon.

Many roads are closed or have suffered damage due to washouts. If you encounter flooded roadways, do not attempt to cross them.
