NC-Forest-Service-ShieldBladen County is sending a Strike Team to the western part of North Carolina for seven days to assist with protecting structures from the wildfires that are currently burning.

The Strike Team is expected to leave Bladen County on Saturday morning.

On Friday afternoon the N.C. Forest Service reported that mandatory evacuations were issued for the communities of Chimney Rock and Lake Lure due to the rapidly growing fire:

** Chimney Rock Village from the intersection of Boys Camp Road and Highway 74 to the Hickory Nut Falls Campground Bridge intersection with Highway 74.

** There is a mandatory evacuation for those residents and business owners located on Boys Camp Road, from the Highway 74 intersection to the end of Boys Camp Road.

** There is a mandatory evacuation for residents and business owners located on South Side Drive from the Flowering Bridge west to the Hickory Nut Falls Campground Bridge intersection with Highway 74.

** There is a mandatory evacuation for residents from Hickory Nut Falls Campground Bridge intersection with Highway 74 to the county line.
