Serve-SafeElizabethtown, NC – During the December Board of Education board meeting, board members recognizned students that had recently earned their ServSafe certification.

ServSafe is a program that the National Restaurant Association has available to help restaurants and the food service industry train employees how to safely handle foods,  prepare foods to the adequate internal temperature, storage of food, the correct service of food, and most importantly sanitation.

At West Bladen, students enrolled in Foods II-Enterprise curriculum are taught each of these techniques.  Upon completing the course, students are administered the National ServSafe exam.  If a student receives a score of 75 or higher, they receive certification from the National Restaurant Association.

This semester 8 students have received their ServSafe certification.  They are as follows:
·       Lauren Autry
·       Rakwan Banner
·       Megan Bennett
·       Matthew Bobby
·       Cody Brown
·       Mary Glasgow
·       Meredith Jordan
·       Taylor Sessoms

The students are taught by West Bladen CTE/Foods teacher Gail Marsh.
