Some Bladen County students honored a funeral procession recently. The students stopped what they were doing and said a prayer for the family.

According to their teacher, Pamela Bryant, “Some of my 7th grade students were playing football yesterday (Friday) during their ‘Free Friday’ time when a funeral procession began passing by. I was so proud of them.

She stayed that not only did the students stop playing to watch out of respect but one boy prayed a prayer out loud for the family and friends of whoever the procession was for.

“It is moments like this that I thank God for my job as an educator and I am reminded why I do what I do! I went over to the boys and complimented them and told them how proud I was of them!” said Bryant.

She added the students had no idea anyone was ‘watching’ them or taking their photo.
