Anna Grey Heustess struck out eight batters in a three-inning no-hitter as Bladen County rolled to a 15-3 victory over Lee County Friday night in the State-Wide Activities Committee’s (SWAC) 10-Under Girls Softball State Tournament in Williamston.
Bladen County advances to a winners bracket game Saturday at 11 a.m. against Onslow County.
Heustess issued only two walks in the victory.
The Bladen team exploded for 14 first-inning runs and pounded out twelve hits in the game. Lainey Autry slammed a double and two singles and scored twice to lead the Bladen hitters.
Teammate Maegan Burney walloped a pair of doubles and scored twice. Karli Priest smacked a pair of singles and scored a pair of Bladen runs.
Lead-off batter Lainey Hughes belted a single and scored three runs, and Emma Turbeville scored twice and cracked a single for the winners.
Hannah Pait hammered a double and scored a run for Bladen, Heustess delivered a single and scored two runs, and Alexus Mitchell added a single and a run scored.
