NEW BERN – Rylee Chadwick and Maddie Taylor combined to pitch a 3-inning no-hitter as Bladen County pounded Nash County 16-0 Saturday in the Statewide Activities Committee (SWAC) Sectional Softball Tournament.

Chadwick pitched the first inning, struck out 2 and walked two. Taylor relieved and worked 2 innings in the circle, striking out 3 and walking one.

Bladen County exploded for ten runs in the first inning. Alexus Mitchell and Chadwick drew walks, and Savannah Turbeville smacked a single that scored Mitchell and Chadwick.

Karli Priest reached on a single, and Emma Turbeville walked. Anna Grey Heustess’ single plated Savannah Turbeville. Maddie Taylor knocked in Priest with a single. Lainey Autry cracked a single that scored Emma Turbeville.

Mitchell belted a single that scored Heustess. Chadwick’s fielder’s choice forced Taylor at the plate, but Savannah Turbeville blasted a triple to left-centerfield that scored Autry, Mitchell and Chadwick. Priest raked a single to left that scored Savannah Turbeville for a 10-0 lead.

Heustess led off the Bladen second inning with a single, and Taylor laced a single. Mackenzie Singletary drove in Heustess with a single, and Autry laced a single to centerfield that scored Taylor. Mitchell’s sacrifice bunt advanced the runners.

Chadwick ripped a single that scored Singletary. Savannah Turbeville reached on a fielder’s choice, and Priest reached base as Chadwick scored. Lainey Hughes lined a single to left that scored Savannah Turbeville, and Heustess delivered a single that scored Priest.

Autry and Taylor both batted 2-2 to lead the Bladen hitters. Savannah Turbeville finished 2-3 with the 3-run triple. Heustess and Priest both batted 2-3. Mitchell, Chadwick, Hughes and Singletary added one hit each to Bladen County’s 14 hit attack.

Bladen County will play Onslow County Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Sectional Championship game.
