HOLLY SPRINGS – Bladen County defeated Holly Springs 10-5 on Friday night in the StateWide Activities Committee 12-and-Under Softball Sectional Tournament.

Bladen County will play the winner of Friday’s Cary/Wake Forest game at 10 a.m. Saturday.

After Holly Springs scored a pair of first inning runs, Bladen County took charge with five runs in the second inning. Molly Pait led off with a single, and Brookee Singletary belted a single. Karly Ross laced a 2-out single, and Lena Trinidad walked.

Megan Pait smacked a single, Martha Simmons walked and Marlie Walters was hit by a pitch, before Molly Pait connected for her second hit of the inning. Molly Pait, Singletary, Ross, Trinidad and Megan Pait all scored runs.

Singletary walked, and Ross slammed a double to start the Bladen third inning. Trinidad smashed a double, and Singletary and Ross scored to pad the lead to 7-2.

Molly Pait and Emmee Ward cracked singles to begin Bladen’s 3-run fourth-inning. Reagan Moore, Violet Allen, Trinidad and Megan Pait all drew walks, and Molly Pait, Ward and Moore all scored runs as the lead grew to 10-2.

Holly Springs scored 3 runs in the sixth inning to trim the final margin to 10-5.

Molly Pait batted a perfect 4-4 with a double and scored 2 runs. Trinidad finished 2-2 at the plate with a double and a run scored. Ross batted 2-3 with a double and 2 runs scored. Ward finished 2-4 at the plate with a run scored.

Singletary and Megan Pait connected for one hit each. Singletary scored 2 runs, and Megan Pait and Moore scored one run each.

 

Ward pitched the victory for Bladen County allowing 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out one.
