WILLIAMSTON – Onslow County rallied for 4 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to eliminate Bladen County 7-6 Sunday in the State-Wide Activities 12U State Softball Tournament.

Bladen County carried a 6-3 lead into the home sixth but 4 hits produced 4 runs and sent Onslow to the championship game against Williamston.

Onslow scored a first inning run before Bladen answered with 2 runs in the second. Alexus Mitchell led off with a single, stole second and dashed home when Emma Turbeville reached base on an error. AnnaGrey Heustess’ sacrifice bunt brought home Emma Turbeville with the go-ahead run.

Rylee Chadwick cracked a one-out single in the Bladen third, stole second base and sprinted home on a passed ball to pad the lead to 3-1.

Onslow battled back with a pair of unearned runs to tie the game 3-3 in the home third.

Zoe Smith walked to start the Bladen fifth inning, stole second and raced home when Lainey Autry belted a single. Chadwick was hit by a pitch, and Savannah Turbeville’s fielder’s choice scored Autry. Chadwick stole home to stretch the Bladen lead to 6-3.

Chadwick, Mitchell and Autry connected for one hit each to lead the Bladen County hitters. Chadwick went the distance in the circle for the Bladen team and struck out four.

Bladen County, the Eastern Sectional Champion, finished in third-place in the State.
