TARBORO – Kadance Hammonds pitched a no-hitter as Bladen County rolled to an 18-0 victory over Warren County on Friday night in the StateWide Activities Committee 16-and-Under Softball State Tournament.

Bladen County will play the winner of Friday night’s Tarboro/Jacksonville game at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Hammonds walked five and struck out one in the four-inning mercy-rule victory.

The Bladen runners ran wild, picking up 28 bases on a combination of stolen bases, wild pitches and passed balls.

Hammonds drew a one-out walk in the first inning, and courtesy runner Briley Stanley stole second and third base and scooted home on Mackenzie Singletary’s grounder.

Bladen County pulled away with eight runs in the second inning. Taylor Lewis reached base on an error, Kaitlynn Brisson beat out a bunt single and Taylor West walked. Lewis scored on a wild pitch, and Hammonds hammered a double to center field that scored Brisson and West.

Mackenzie Singletary’s drive to right field was misplayed allowing Hammonds to score. Hannah Pait and Maddie Taylor reached base on errors as Kennedy Carroll, the courtesy runner for Singletary, scored. Hannah Pait sprinted home on a passed ball, and Lauren Pait ripped a double to left field that scored Taylor. Guyton raked a single to left that scored Lauren Pait for a 9-0 lead.

West swatted a single and sprinted all the way to third base on an error by the right fielder. Hammonds walked, and West darted home on a passed ball. Singletary walked, and Hannah Pait smoked a single through the middle that scored courtesy runners Stanley and Carroll.

Taylor and Stanley drew walks as Hannah Pait dashed home on a wild pitch, and Taylor sprinted home on an error. Guyton laced a single to center field that scored Stanley. KyLee Ward reached base on a passed third strike that scored Guyton. Carroll walked, and West’s fielder’s choice plated Ward. Hammonds and Singletary reached base on errors as Carroll scored to boost the margin to 18-0.

Guyton batted 2-for-2 with a run batted in and a run scored. Hammonds slugged the two-run double and scored a run. Lauren Pait smashed an RBI double and scored a run. West, Hannah Pait and Brisson added one hit each.

Hannah Pait had two RBIs, and West and Singletary had one RBI each. Stanley and Carroll scored three runs each, and Taylor, Hannah Pait and West scored two runs each. Lewis, Ward and Brisson scored one run each.
