TARBORO – Robeson County defeated Bladen County Friday night in the opening round of the State-Wide Activities Committee State Softball Tournament.

Robeson County scored 3 runs in the first inning on 2 hits and 2 errors, but Bladen County answered with a run in the second. Pitcher Jordan Kinlaw cracked a lead-off single, and Hannah Pait was hit by a pitch. Sara Corriveau, the courtesy runner for Kinlaw scored on Amelia Brisson’s fielder’s choice.

Robeson tacked on a run in the home second, but Bladen trimmed the margin to 4-2 in the third inning. Johanna Parker walked, stole a base and darted home on a passed ball.

Bladen County closed the gap to 4-3 in the fourth inning. Hannah Pait belted a single but was forced at second by Katlynn Tatum. Brisson smacked a single, Carlie West walked, and Parker was hit by a pitch to force home Tatum.

Robeson County scored 5 runs in the home half of the fourth to open up the 9-3 lead.

Hannah Pait batted 2-2 to lead the Bladen hitters. Kinlaw finished 2-3 at the plate. Brisson added a hit and drove in a run. Parker scored a run and drove in a run. Corriveau scored a run.
