Tar Heel Fish House located at 14291 Highway 87 in Tar Heel held their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, May 16. Owner of the new business, Ms. Yeseree Robinson, a 1998 graduate of Tar Heel High School welcomed all who attended.

Dawn Maynard, Executive Director with the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce helped with the ribbon cutting festivities.

Free food, drinks and balloons were part of the celebration. Ms. Robinson and Mrs. Maynard thanked everyone for coming to the event.

“I would have never imagined there would be a seafood market I would be owning. I look forward to bringing new things to the community,” Ms. Robinson said before cutting the ribbon.

After Ms. Robinson cut the ceremonial ribbon she made a surprise presentation.

On July 25th, 1998, Ms. Dorothy Jordan was shot at the store in Tar Heel, according to Robinson. “We are going to put a permanent memorial here in her honor,” Ms. Robinson said as she held a photo of the late Ms. Jordan.

Then, Ms. Robinson presented Ms. Jordan’s daughter with a memorial plaque and a key chain.

“This is the sweetest ribbon cutting,” Maynard said.

The large crowd applauded Ms. Robinson’s sentimental remarks.

Everyone is invited to become a patron of the new establishment. The Tar Heel Fish House is open Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekends, according to Ms. Robinson.
