Phil and Alice Allen, a Tar Heel couple seriously injured last week in a auto collision on US 701 south of Whiteville, remain hospitalized, according to a family friend.
Alice remains in Grand Stand Hospital in Myrtle Beach, SC recovering from two broken arms and a broken leg. She is expected to be in rehab for several weeks after her hospital stay.
Phil is a patient in the Whiteville hospital. He also suffered a broken leg, and is expected to be released soon.
The couple were headed to the beach when their vehicle was hit head-on by an oncoming vehicle that veered into their lane.
