Tar Heel Sci Oly regional winnersTar Heel Middle Schools took 36 students to the Regional Science Olympiad competition in Fayetteville competing against 16 other schools. We are pleased to announce that the school

Varsity Team came in 7th place overall and the school Junior Varsity Team came in 2nd place over bringing home a trophy.

Several students competed on individual teams and brought home 12 top five finishes.

Placing for the Varsity team were:

-5th place in the Crave the Wave event – Atzel Salvador and Daniel Zalava

-3rd place in the Wind Power event – Gerado Cristibol

-2nd place in the Food Science event – Roxana Campos and Claudia Reyes

-2nd place in the Fossils event – Tristin Sadler and Samaria Grant

-1st place in the Green Generation event and moving on the State competition – Edgardo Lara and Daniel Zalava

Placing for the Junior Varsity team were:

-2nd place in the Bridge Building event – Mayra Vazquez and Serenity Flakes

-2nd place in the Elastic Glider event – Caroline Brisson and Shelby Tatum

-2nd place in the Food Science event – Ashanti Rozier and Haley Lewis

-2nd place in the Invasive Species event – Madison Taylor and Taylor Caulder

-2nd place in the Reach for the Stars event – Mayra Vazquez and Serenity Flakes

-1st place in the Dynamic Planet event – Shelby Tatum and Ashanti Rozier

-1st place in the Scrambler event – Olivia Allen and Haleigh Fields
