Bladen Community College followed its guest author and WRAL television personality Scott Mason, on a journey around North Carolina at a recent reading and story-telling event held on campus.
Mason is an award winning broadcast journalist with 30 years of television experience and is known as “the Tar Heel Traveler”.
Mason’s presentation took community guests, students, faculty, and staff along the back roads of North Carolina where Mason told tales of meeting memorable characters, finding out-of-the-way places, eating great food and unearthing fascinating facts about the state.
Mason announced at BCC’s event that he reached the 2,000 milestone of producing the weekly half-hour specials on WRAL, which even included specials on Bladen County.
Mason is pictured with Bladen Community College President Dr. Amanda Lee and coordinator of the event Dr. Joyce Bahhouth.
The event was free and open to the public as part of the Writers Series at Bladen Community College. The program was made possible by a grant from the NC Humanities Council, a statewide nonprofit and affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities, and Bladen Community College.
