GUNTERSVILLE, AL – Portland, Tennessee outscored Hope Mills 7-4 over the final 3 innings to claim a 10-6 victory in the second round of the Dixie Pre-Majors World Series Satuday night.
Hope Mills, now 1-1 in the series, will play Mississippi Sunday at 12:30 p.m. (EDT) in an elimination game.
S. Hancock and Zach Meares ripped one-out singles and scored runs in the Hope Mills second inning. J. Rivera knocked in both runs with a double to trim the Tennessee lead to 3-2.
Tennessee scored 3 runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to open up a 9-5 lead. Singles by C. Warren, C. Jacobs and Brady Hollingsworth produced a Hope Mills run in the fifth.
Jacobs and Hollingsworth both batted 2-for-4 for Hope Mills. Rivera and Jacobs slammed doubles, and Meares and Hancock connected for one hit each.
