HEALTH CARE WORKERS ARE AMONG FIRST TO RECEIVE VACCINE

FAYETTEVILLE, NC—Three of Cape Fear Valley Health’s hospitals will be among the first eleven hospitals in NC to receive COVID-19 vaccines: Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, Hoke Hospital and Bladen County Hospital.

Shipment of the vaccines are expected to arrive at the Medical Center and Hoke Hospital by 10:30 a.m. and later this evening at Bladen County Hospital. An estimated 5000 doses will be in this first delivery. Vaccines will be stored at their respective facilities.

Vaccines will begin to be administered today, December 15 at 1 p.m. to health care workers. Front line workers in the Medical Center’s Emergency Department and COVID inpatient unit; Michael Zappa, M.D., Chief of Emergency Services and Associate Chief Medical Officer; Mike Nagowski, CEO of Cape Fear Valley Health; Roxie Wells, M.D., President of Hoke Health; and Samuel Fleishman, M.D., Chief Medical Officer will be first recipients of the vaccine.
