The EntertainersThe Entertainers will kick off the second annual Summer Sounds Concert Series on Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Cape Fear Farmer’s Market in Elizabethtown. The event is free and is presented by the Cape Fear Valley-Bladen Healthcare, the Elizabethtown-White Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, and platinum, gold, silver and bronze sponsors.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for people to come out and enjoy each other’s company and have a great time,” said Chamber President Tiina Mundy.

“We encourage everyone to come out and attend what is, in my opinion, one of the largest community events in our area,” said Maynard.

Food will be available for purchase from Cape Fear Chicken and Barbecue who is also a silver sponsor for the vent; Lu Mil Vineyard, another silver sponsor,  will be on hand offering Muscadine wine and Muscadine slushies; and Sunset Slush of bladen County will also be on hand offering tasty treats.

Don’t forget your Summer Sounds Concert Series T-shirts! They will be available at a cost of $10 each at the Cape Fear Valley tent.

Chamber Executive Director Dawn Maynard said everyone is excited about the concert series. Maynard said that event sponsors who wish to have a booth can set up on Thursday from 3 until 5 p.m. and all vehicles are supposed to be outside of the designated concert area by 5 p.m.

Maynard said the summer concert series came about when Cape Fear Valley was looking for a community event in Bladen County they could take part in. She said the Chamber was able to take the idea and make it a reality with the help of an advertising campaign and the support of the Chamber membership.

The concert series will also feature Spare Change on July 28, the Rivermist Band on August 11, and Blackwater Rhythm and Blues Band on August 25.
