TiinaBladen Community College Human Resources Director, Tiina Mundy, also known as the “Swimming Finn” has finished her 100 mile, virtual swim down the South Carolina Coast, but her challenge is not over yet. “I think this is a great opportunity to pay it forward.” Tiina Mundy said.

When Mundy turned 50 she decided to really challenge herself and swim a 100 miles. The next year she decided that she wanted to pay it forward with the challenge and have some accountability with her swim, so she decided to set a goal to raise money for Bladen Community College. Mundy worked with,  Cathy Kinlaw and Linda Burney, to come up with the Finn Swimm Challenge to benefit the Bladen Community College Foundation.

This year, Mundy is intended to raise $5,000 for the Finn Swimm Scholarship. She is challenging everyone to pledge 25 or 50 cents per mile or maybe even $1 per mile she has swam to support educational opportunities at BCC through the BCC Foundation.

Mundy has been inspired by other athletes like the late, Jim McBeath. Now, she hopes her swim to pay it forward will inspire other athletes to do the same.  “I have been so blessed in swimming and diving in my life. People bike, run, swim, and other things, I think it’s a great opportunity for those of us that can do, to do it for someone else, to pay it forward. ”

Donations for the Finn Swim Challenge are being collect through March 31st, 2015.
