Spread the love

By Haylie Robinson

Have you ever been sitting in your house wishing you had something to do? Well, there are many different things you can do in North Carolina, ranging from the Carolina Chocolate Festival in Morehead City; to Colored Silk: A Mother’s Civil War Odyssey in New Bern. We want to help you find some events you may be interested in attending.

Some of the events happening in NC this month include the Carolina Chocolate Festival, Madi Gras on Middle Lane, Colored Silk: a Mother’s Civil War Odyssey, Outhouse Races, and finally, NC Vintage Bazaar. Below are the details for the events.

• Do you love chocolate and sweets? Well, the Carolina Chocolate Festival might be just for you! It is at 305 Arendell St., Morehead City. It’s on February 4th and 5th; it starts at 9 am on Saturday and 10 am Sunday. Adult tickets are $9, and kids are $2. They also have a 5K walk or run. All proceeds go to local charities.

• Mardi Gras on Middle Lane is a miniature Mardi Gras at Middle Lane, Beaufort. It’s described as one of the shortest parades, but that gives the event its quirkiness. It is from 2 pm to 6 pm on February 11th. It’s free to attend, so take you and your family to experience the fun!

• Is history something you’re interested in? Well, you’ll enjoy the performance “Colored Silk: A Mother’s Civil War Odyssey.” It’s a reenactment of the life of Elizabeth Keckley. It’s hosted at 529 S Front St, New Bern. It starts at 7:00 pm and ends at 8:30 pm on February 16th. It’s also free to attend.

• Outhouse racing might make you question a bit, but it’s an actual thing! You decorate your outhouse how you want and race in the snow in your outhouse! You’ll be able to watch from the sidelines if you don’t want to precipitate. It’s free to attend, starting at 3:00 pm and ending at 4. The event is hosted at 127 Cherokee Trail, Sapphire, on February 18th.

• Finally, the last event I will tell you about is the North Carolina Vintage Bazaar. It’s a vintage thrift show; you can walk around and find some fantastic vintage items that you might love. It’s at 500 S. Salisbury St., Raleigh. It’s on February 25th, starting at noon and lasting till 6 pm. You can get an early bird ticket for $15, so you can get in at 11 am to get a good look at everything. But general admission tickets are $10.
