The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles is rolling out a new tool to give North Carolinians another way to renew licenses and more. In an effort to shorten lines and wait times at offices across the state, and to provide services outside of typical office hours, the NCDMV is piloting the use of self-service kiosks in grocery stores. The kiosks are now available at select Harris Teeter grocery stores in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Fayetteville.
Customers are able to renew driver licenses and state IDs, print Temporary Driver and Identification Certificates, register to vote, and order duplicate driver licenses. For more information and specific locations, visit this website.
Small Business Workshops
This month, NCDOT’s Office of Civil Rights will host Disadvantage Business Enterprise and bilingual workshops for minority businesses interested in contract work with the state agency.
DBE meetings are held at multiple locations across the state on March 23, and then a bilingual workshop will be held the evening of March 27 in Asheville. Participants can learn about upcoming contracting opportunities and how to work with NCDOT. To register, or for more information, go to NCDOT.gov and search “DBE” or “Small Hispanic Business”
Move Over Law
The Department wants to remind drivers of the Move Over Law. This law requires drivers to move over a lane or slow down considerably when approaching emergency vehicles stopped on the side of the road with lights flashing. Drivers can face a minimum 250-dollar fine for failing to obey the law. Let’s all do our part to keep those who protect us, safe.
