Bladen County’s Kayla Thompson shot 78-80-76=234 to tie for 79th place in the Wichita Fall Lady’s Championship played this week in Wichita Falls, Texas.

The tournament, originally scheduled as a 72 hole event, was cut to 54 holes due to rain. The winning score, shot by Binny Lee of Texas, was 75-70-66=211 and paid $11,000. To be “in the money” Thompson would have had to shoot 227.

Thompson’s next tournament is The Hot Springs Championship to be played April 28-30 in Hot Springs, Arkansas. The tourney has a purse of $40,000 with first place winning $7.500.

Thompson is a graduate of West Bladen High School and UNC Wilmington
