Thoughts While Shaving
Spread the love
Thoughts While ShavingJuly 3….many folks on our roads, at the lake, hopefully on the streets of Elizabethtown for the Sidewalk Sale.  There will be longer lines at many restaurants and other retail outlets…A great time to just cool it…relax…There is room for all.
We are all a little different, some more different than others…Let’s treat all the way we want to be treated…We are all God’s children….
Traffic patterns change next week at the intersection of US 701 and NC 87 bypass….according to the sign on the site…Alternative routes, when possible,  may be a better choice…Time will tell…
Bladen County Commissioners will not meet for regular session Monday evening….They will meet as Board of Equalization and Review at 4 p.m.
Other local governmental meetings will be held at regular times…
Bladen Board of Education will hold a Board Retreat Tuesday from 4 – 7 p.m. to discuss district planning for the coming school year…..
I enjoy our headlines from 35 years ago….I was a member of the Bladen County Board of Commissioners…Do not remember the 5 cents increase in property taxes…Think that was when Elizabethtown Middle School was built….It was East Bladen High School then…As I recall, there was some money for just about every school in the county to match a state-wide bond referendum…..
I like BladenOnline…Bladen County news…uncluttered and constantly updated…..and the subscription rate is unchanged…FREE, and our circulation numbers are better than ever……
Remember when gas was less than a dollar a gallon? An attendant pumped the gas and washed the windshield?  Those were the days my friend, I never dreamed it would end…but it has…
Every day I get up and look through the Forbes list of the richest people in America.  If I’m not there, I go to work.  Robert Orben
As a young man,
I manufactured calendars, but my days were numbered
In my prime,
I wanted to be a barber, but I just couldn’t cut it.
Later in life,
I took a job as an elevator operator.  The job had its ups and downs, and I got the shaft.
Finally,
I retired, and I find I’m a perfect fit for the job.
